Whether you agree with her stances or not, the fact is that he would have absolutely none of that fame without Rowling. He owes his daily life style to the role she created for him and he hasn't had a memorable role since then. He likely never will. That doesn't mean he has to be grateful to her being a shithead. I'd also wager that the Harry Potter became so huge due in part because of the movies and his bringing of the world to life.
