You mean to tell me that cooperations haven't poured millions of dollars into R&D their food and/or drinks to make them to taste a certain way, going so far as to make them possibly addictive?

If you say they haven't, you're very wrong. They do taste good and taste a certain way intentionally

I have had coworkers that were pretty entitled. The worst were actually some of the other students I have had in my classes

The girl who got caught cheating after a huge amount of copy/patste on a paper, but it wasn't fair to throw her out because her mother had been writing ALL of her essays. It wasn't the student that violated the rules after all.

Bought her the car she wanted in the color she wanted. Hell, one of her parents would even come in early in the morning to park in the parking lot to "hold a spot" for her so she didn't have to walk far when she came in for her classes.

She'd come to class, play on her phone, contribute nothing to any discussions and just generally waste time.

I went to two different schools: one for elementary school and the other for high school. I do not have the exact numbers with me but

Out of the top 50 schools in the area, at the time, the elementary school placed in the 30's for graduation rate, testing/scores, and attendance. The high school placed top 10 for graduation rate, top 20 for scores and 20 for attendance. This was in the 90's

The only thing that has changed is the high school. It is now in the 30's across all categories. The only thing the elementary school and their district beats the high school is on spending for athletics.

They suckered the taxpayers into a new 5 million dollar renovation and field, claiming it was justified as it will help them field winners again, especially football. They placed 3rd in their division for state in 1999 and never want to forget that glory

Yes, but also a big part of the problem is that colleges overcharge you to hell.

What's it gotten, 30 times more expensive? I want to see colleges held accountable for this. Are they just going to charge the government $40k? Seems like a racket. We wouldn't have this problem if it costed what it did in the 70s.

You never see that part brought up. Altogether it'd still be cheaper than 3 more aircraft carriers.

Depends on the school too with the overcharges. I would be charged room and board, plus those out of state student expenses in many colleges even though I took all my classes online. Hell, my last college charged me library and gym fees even though I never stepped foot in either one.

My last school's tuition was 25k for two years, yet my student loans taken out were for over 35k and I still ended up pay 4k out of my own pocket to finish.

Well you live in New York so your options are going to be limited. A Mossberg 500 with a 18.5 inch barrel would probably be ideal. If you want to go the pistol route a Glock 19, Ruger SR9C, S&W Shield. If you want a revolver go with a S&W in .357 magnum such as a Model 686. That way you can also shoot .38 Special out of it. The main thing is once you get a gun you need to familiarize yourself with it. Take it out shooting and get use to it.

I own a Remington 1100 12 gauge. I have used it to hunt the last 6 years. Don't have the extra money to buy a pistol right now. Hell, I don't have the extra money to pay for the class and permit fees

A quality 5.56 carbine is probably your best choice. With the proper load a 5.56 well cause less overpenetration than any adequate handgun or shotgun load. If all bedrooms are upstairs, holding the top of the stairs until your wife can get the kids into the bedroom is probably you best bet plan.

I don't worry about the slug going through because there's only a wall behind next to the stairs with an area that has nothing else to hit.

The way the house is set up, if I stood at the top of the stairs, I'd be an easy target. There's nothing to hide behind or block their line of sight other than a handrail.

Both of the bedrooms for the kids are beyond mine, so my 16 year old would likely be safe staying in his, not so much the 2 year old. She's usually in our bedroom so that is one less thing to worry about.

The rules are different for each religion. Catholic priests are not allowed to give out what was confessed or they could be automatically excommunicated.

Priest/clergy and penitent is privileged information. Although Oregon is a state where they are mandated reporters, she may have a case unfortunately. In most where there's mandatory reporting, information gained within a confession or conversation is still considered privileged and may be exempted from being reported

Shotguns may be less accurate than rifles but they're still zeroed for 50 yards like a pistol.

Hell, I can easily hit the center of a target at 75 yards with my shotgun. It may not be a true bullseye (as I take a paper plate and color the little circle in the middle red) but that's likely more about my aim than the gun

One thing that's being overlooked on this discussion thread: license and costs. To get one for a pistol in NY, you need 6 signatures from nonrelatives saying you won't shoot places up. You need to apply for one on your county (mine is $150) and then you can take the pistol safety class ($100). If you pass everything, including the background check and mental health check, they can still deny you a permit

So you get your permit and don't forget to renew! If you live in New York City, pistol licenses must be renewed every three years for a fee of $340

To get a shotgun, you pay for it, show your license and/or ID and then you just wait to clear the background check. Then go pick up your firearm. No renewal costs

is that as completely stupid as fuck as it sounds?

Yes. Unlike some states like Texas where one can defend their property with lethal force, and Florida with the "Stand Your Ground" laws, we're supposed to run away and hide.

Great example how asinine it is and it's still a problem: about 6 years ago, a guy broke into a person's home with the owner there. Owner calls 911 after seeing the guy has a knife. One of those good hunting knives, not a little switch blade. He runs into the bedroom to be safe and potentially arm himself

Intruder hears him and tries to break down the door. Meanwhile, owner is panicking, begins loading his shotgun. Intruder broke through and charges.

Owner never got a shot off. He just issues a quick buttstroke with the shotgun and breaks the guy's nose and cheek bone. Problems solved! No?

No. The DA charges the homeowner too with assault and few other charges, including intent on using a deadly weapon. He eventually dropped them all due to public backlash.

That's how screwed up it is here, and that's before the bail reform act
