Ah, Sushi Go, aka one of the two games I've managed to convince my father to play more than once. (And even my grandfather!)

It isn't too deep, but it's enjoyable throughout, especially Sushi Go Party, which adds quite a number of different cards. There still remains the same amount of different types, you choose before you begin which cards will be in the game. It adds a lot of variety, and some more complexity as well, but it doesn't dramatically change the game. I can't recommend it enough if you're playing Sushi Go with your group from time to time.

Haven't played it with 8 though, I think the most I played with was with 6, which was pretty much the same as with 4 players.

I think it ended up being one of the games I played most last year, but that's probably because the games are so quick and everyone enjoys themselves, so it's easy to bring to the table.

I've only played dead of winter twice, and if it were up to me it would have been only once. Not that the first game was bad, just very mediocre.
But I'm actually happy that I played it again, somehow the game clicked for our group the second time. The crossroads cards were great, I think we got one or two rules right that we didn't get right the first time, and it somehow went smoother and faster even though there was one more of us.
Zombies still aren't my favorite theme though.

Sheriff of nottingham ?

And I didn't like SH either. It was an okay experience, and having played it only once, it's hard to judge/slam the mechanics. It did what you'd want from a social deduction game, but didn't particularly impress me. In another case I'd give it another go but the theme throws me off. It isn't even offensive, just juvenile, and unfortunately the theme is all the game seems to be having for it.

Yeah, I'd recommend something like spyfall, codenames or once upon a time. They don't take up a lot of space and they excell when playing with 5+ people. Most board games (especially euros) don't even support that amount, and for good reason too, otherwise the downtime between turns would be far too long.

Pyre

It was amazing.

Also bought Slay the Spire, but that wasn't discounted. If you're a fan of deck builders, this one is certainly worth it and very playable in its current state. (early acces)

8/9 classes done, stuck on mage of all classes. I had a great giant/rod of summoning deck, but I still ended up losing due to bad draws. Lots of fun though, I especially like building a chaos mage deck, even if it's probably not a great dungeon run deck.

I heard Civ 6 was pretty bad, so I've been kinda avoiding it. I was perfectly happy with the way Civ 4 and 5 played on release, though, and actually dislike the things they added with the expansions, though, so maybe I should just go ahead and get it?

Base Civ VI is a lot better than Base civ V. It's probably one of the best base civ games. It has some issues but it's an enjoyable experience if you don't like resort to cheese strats.

This. The ai isn't great, but neither was civ v's ai.

Last time I played, I gave Kimahri steal (friend sphere I think) and put him on Wakka's path. That worked out pretty well. I also gave him the strength sphere you get from winning the blitzball game against the Goers.
