I really enjoyed the list! I'll definitely try some of them that I've missed.

And I can only recommend Renowned Explorers, it's a great game.

I'm starting to think that the ladder experience is completely different if you're missing cards from the first series. I'm still missing a bunch of series 3 cards and I almost never see Alioth, or wave + Mobius, or most of the other stuff you see on reddit. I only encountered Loki once in a while in the past weeks, while I got the impression from reddit that everyone was playing him.

Once I get to infinite I start seeing these decks though, so I guess the 'protection' goes away.

You don't need to spend money to have fun and/or reach the highest level on the ladder (infinity).

At first you get new cards at a steady rate, eventually that will slow down, in my experience when you're starting to get series 3 cards.
There are 5 'series', groups of cards. The first 3 you'll get naturally, 4&5 you either need to get them in the shop via tokens or via spotlight caches. Hoard the tokens for now, you'll get those caches later.
I think I started playing mid-July, there are still a bunch of series 3 cards that I don't have.

Should have thought of something cooler than Spinda
