I'm more fond with Galaxy 1 since it made more of an impact on me. Galaxy 2 feels like the better game but more of the same. I dunno which one I like better, tbh.

Honestly Ultimate seems the closest to Melee as we'll get without actually straight up emulating the gameplay. They brought back the fast-paced nature along with being able to combo and air dodges being more of a risk rather than spammable. It honestly looks really fun from what I'm seeing.

Also 74+ characters with 100 stages to play on is immense, not to mention the soundtrack.

The series eventually reached a point where they were adding them just for the sake of adding them (or more likely, trying to emulate the Genesis games success without realising WHY those characters worked) at the expense of their existing characters.

Like...Big the Cat is just pointless. They only added him because they wanted a...fishing minigame in their Sonic game? Okay. Rouge was made just to have a dark counterpart to Knuckles. Cream was just...another flying character for the sake of it. I like Shadow though, even though he's just a dark and edgy Sonic.
