Lucas - Mid fodder

Calling him low fodder is basically singling him out as the clear weakest playable Smash character of them all and whole hes certainly way on the lower end Im reluctant to do that. Particularly since while Mother 3 probably wouldnt be enough on its own to let him escape low fodder, that game isnt totally pathetic, official release or no.

High fodder for Bobba Fett.

Mid fodder for Ant Man. I was going to go High but then thought Ant Man vs Lucas or whatever you think the worat Smash character is. I dont think Id pick Ant Man there and Id certainly be unsure of it if I did.

DBZ Goku vs. Frieza lasts way too goddamn long and has some pretty hilarious pacing even for DBZ with FIVE MINUTES and the spirit bomb charging that kind of muck things up. Kai and from what I hear the manga were a lot better about that, though.

Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII) - High Fodder

Fodder Line would be reasonable if her and Aerith have been consistent since 2013 and she got SFFed a bit. My instincts say Rinoa shouldn't be all that good regardless so I'll elect against putting her there solely on that basis.

Demogorgon (Stranger Things) - Low Fodder

Sam Fisher (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell) - Low Fodder

It doesn't look like any of his games have actually been widely played here. I think of him as an Xbox-aligned guy more than anyone else, he couldn't make a 243-character bracket, his series is dead. Yeah, low fodder it is.

Kane (Command & Conquer) - LAW Fodder

In 2002 he only got 21.89% on Bomberman, he had a pretty noncontroversial path in general (Link > Jill > Bomberman > Kane), and he ended up at 10.08% in the x-stats, 6th from the bottom in a year loaded with fodder. And that should have been when he was at or near his strongest. Around that time EA took over, shortly after there was a four year gap until the next game came out when releases had previously been annual, and when more new games arrived the series' reputation started declining until it hit rock bottom with Tiberium Twilight in 2010, and there's been nothing except a mobile and a browser game since then. This series was clearly never in gamefaqs' wheelhouse in the first place but given those events I have trouble believing he could hold up even to his 2002 performance. He'd beat Spring Breeze Dancin' of course (anyone who's not a board 8 rally would) but I'd take Caim over him. Also people that weren't me seemed to think Kerrigan was Low Fodder? Kane is not even going to come close to Kerrigan.

Rocket Racoon (Marvel) - High Fodder

I don't think he can maintain that if the MCU slacks but brief research indicates he's the most popular Guardians of the Galaxy member so sure why not.

Gimli (Lord of the Rings) - Mid Fodder

Tolkein being so influential might work against him, I think. He's fun for sure and Lord of the Rings is widely watched but at the end of the day, he's a pretty standard dwarf, we've seen that a hundred times, and I'm not sure more casual Rings watchers are going to remember him much. Reluctant to place him a tier above Frodo too.

Agumon (Digimon) - Mid Fodder

I don't have confidence that gamefaqs widely cares about Digimon games at all but there are a lot of them, a few of which (while clearly low fodder) aren't completely obscure. The anime was...maybe the 5th most popular of its era in the U.S.? It wasn't quite on the level with Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, or Yu-gi-oh, but I feel like most kids back then (particularly those nerdy enough to vote in gamefaqs polls 20 years later) at least knew what it was. I'll give Agumon just a slight amount of credit.

Professor Charles Xavier (X-Men) - High Fodder
Roxas (Kingdom Hearts) - Mid Fodder

Riku looked High Fodder-ish in 2018 so you'd think Roxas should probably be Mid; he generally hasn't been too far behind Riku. If you wanted to argue Roxas would have more of a Sora-ish drop rather than Riku's ridiculous bomb, I could see them both being high fodder but I don't have the knowledge of the games or fanbase to determine whether Roxas catching up or surpassing Riku is remotely reasonable and I'm not really that interested in drinking more Kingdom Hearts Kool-Aid regardless.

Spider-Gwen/Gwen Stacy (Marvel) - Low Fodder

Almost nothing that happens in comics matters outside of comics fandom. If you don't have notable appearances in something that a good portion of the site is likely to have seen, you're going to be awful. Gwen barely had a cameo in the 90's Spider-man series, she wasn't in the Raimi trilogy, she's not in the MCU. She's not in Marvel vs. Capcom or Insomniac Spider-Man. She's apparently in Into the Spider-verse (haven't seen) and Sony's 2010 Spider-man movies but I don't see her getting many votes for the latter, or for being one of Spider-man's girlfriends in general.

People like him in general but he's just not as distinctive as Gandalf so I don't think he's going to be particularly close.

The Luminary - High fodder

Metal Mario - Mid fodder

Dark Link could be strong because hes Like Link But Different and has little competition there. Mario already has Luigi and Wario to fill those roles for him, Waluigi is Like Those Two But Different, and then theres also a bunch of other unimportant Mario doppelgngers like Cosmic Mario, Shadow Mario, etc. Wario and Waluigi would eat the latter group for lunch, other than maybe Dr. Mario if he counts. Point is, while Dark Link adds something by his tie to Link, Metal Mario really adds nothing to Mario.

Metal Marios also not really his own character. Its basically just Mario with the Metal cap and hes not very memorable in his spinoff appearances that Ive seen. He doesnt feel like a legitimate character. And personally, itd be hard to find a single opponent Id vote him over. Maybe ? Block.

Not scared of the Mario name either. When weve seen lower tier Mario games in a contest, they have absolutely been capable of bombing regardless of having Mario in the title. But even those games have their fans. I really like Metal Mario said nobody ever.

I might have voted LAW Fodder before MCU.

Mr. Freeze (DC Comics) - High fodder

3rd strongest Batman villain huh? I could see it but I don't think he'd be significantly ahead of the pack. I remember him from Batman the Animated Series but I don't feel overly inclined to vote for him in a character battle setting. Also people hate Batman & Robin.

The Hulk (Marvel) - Fodder-line

Before the MCU existed, I think The Hulk was kind of an empty icon. Most people would have recognized him and known he's really strong and angry but outside of comic fans not many would have cared due to lack of meaningful screentime in media they cared about. MCU has helped in that it's a given the gamefaqs demographic that don't read comics an actual connection to the character but I'm really skeptical he would actually beat Thor.

Not sure whether Gohan or Piccolo would be better and Piccolo's placement looks at least plausible so I'll put Gohan in the same tier.

Slimer (Ghostbusters) - Low fodder

I don't think most people care about this thing if they only watched the movies; it's some some decent scenes but it's not really important there. You probably have to have watched the cartoon, too. I feel like Ghostbusters was big enough that most users (at least in North America) probably watched and liked at least the first movie at some point even if it was before their time but the cartoon and general Ghostbusters craze is another matter. Even in nerdy circles I don't think 80's cartoons are something most people are gonna bother digging into unless they have nostalgia for them; too long and formulaic. And even then I'm not sure the cartoon left the strongest impression among the era's youth compared to say Gi Joe/Transformers/Thundercats/Voltron/TMNT, possibly because it was based on a popular movie which remained the cornerstone of the franchise. I do think recognizability will ultimately save Slimer from LAW fodder, though.

He's a recognizable Nintendo dude due to an old arcade game people don't actually care about and I guess he's in Super Mario Kart? He really shouldn't be that good. And while Donkey Kong's looked better since Returns came out I still don't think he's quite the kind of guy you want to leech off. I don't think there should be any question that, say, Diddy would be ridiculously better than him.

Haven't played but "NPC from recent game without enormous amounts of screen time" doesn't seem like it should quite cut it, even if she is from Breath of the Wild.

The Chinese box office is worth too much and Hollywood movies trying for deeper themes, realistic issues, or more controversial content both may run afoul of Chinese censors and may also simply not be to Chinese tastes due to cultural differences. Even if a more down-to-earth drama could make the same amount of money in the west as big spectacles like the MCU, it's much easier to sell superhero and scifi movies with cool special effects and action to China and rake in an additional 33% in revenues or whatever it's up to at this point.

Felicia (Darkstalkers) - Mid Fodder

Morrigan was strangely (if expected in the latter case) good both in 2002 and 2013 so even if it's weird to me that characters from friggin' Darkstalkers of all things would be worth anything at all, I'm not willing to totally write off the likely #2 from that franchise. I guess having Crossovers plus TJF besides their appearances in their franchise is something. I wouldn't have thought it quite enough to get someone like Felicia to Mid fodder normally but then again I wouldn't have thought Morrigan would be at or perhaps even above the fodder-line, yet here we.

Solidus Snake (Metal Gear Solid 2) - Mid Fodder
Shion Uzuki (Xenosaga)- Low fodder

I think only about 12.5% of voters or something crazy low like that liked her in "Do you like this character?" and I don't think Xenosaga's a powerhouse in the first place - KOS-MOS punches significantly above her weight.

I think Cecil actually makes it to low midcarder too, so its not hard for me to see kain as fodder line. Losing to Crash ended up looking much better as the contest continued to play out.
