I wouldn't take Mewtwo over current Dante and I don't think Lugia has a prayer at beating Mewtwo, so I don't think Dante vs. Lugia would be close.

Lugia should probably be the strongest Pokemon GSC has to offer, though, and while we've seen stuff originating from RSE and DPP there's been nothing from GSC. Lugia probably would be a midcarder and it should be well ahead of Lucario and Bidoof.

Mega Man should most certainly not switch with Crono there, that would be the worst possible placement for Mega Man. Him and MMX have been thrown against Mario and Link way too many times the past few contests. Since 2008, Mario is 4-0 on MMX and 1-0 on MM and Link is 1-0 on MMX and 1-0 on MM.

It's worse than Snake vs FFVII because at least Snake wins that sometimes and still has a shot at beating Cloud in a fair match at some point.

I would be shocked if this were the case. Squall/Seifer was a far more predominant rivalry in its game, it got a 1st seed to reflect its significance in the eyes of nominators whereas he had a 2 in the last battle, Sora went the other way on the rivalry seeding stakes.

Were there nomination topics or something on board 8 for either of these rivalries? Could explain the difference.

I think it makes sense that Mega Man would be hurt pretty badly by rivalry factor here.

"Mega Man" the character and "Mega Man" the series are also representative of most Mega Man sub-series, most notably Mega Man X.

"Mega Man vs. Wily" is not representative of Mega Man X. Possibly others as well but I haven't played those.

I wasn't considering remakes or re-releases to count as the same game, but in U.S. sales, yes, they did.

I can't find sales data on Final Fantasy Chronicles, though if those sales were considered CT would probably at least beat Golden Sun.

Few really care about Ada, lots of people care about Scorpion and a strong minority likes him more than Sub-Zero. I'd favor Sub-Zero/Scorpion even if they hadn't gotten a new game.
