Lugia would beat Dante 1v1... he's one of the most iconic Pokemon out there, being in movies and being the legendary in Silver version, as well as on the cover. It's a big deal to be on the cover of the 2nd generation games... realize that for the 2nd generation the starter Pokemon were not on the cover.

Lugia wouldn't beat Dante 1v1. It would be pretty close but we saw last year that GSC has no way the same level of sway that RBY do.

I wouldn't take Mewtwo over current Dante and I don't think Lugia has a prayer at beating Mewtwo, so I don't think Dante vs. Lugia would be close.

Lugia should probably be the strongest Pokemon GSC has to offer, though, and while we've seen stuff originating from RSE and DPP there's been nothing from GSC. Lugia probably would be a midcarder and it should be well ahead of Lucario and Bidoof.

It doesn't need the same level of sway of RBY to beat Dante; GSC's power on its own would be enough to take down Dante.

I think a lot of board 8ers are still suffering from withdrawal symptoms from GSC's 2010 GotD performance. Everyone in the know expected GSC to beat Majora, and perhaps even make a run to the semis or finals of the contest. But when that result turned into a 56-44 loss, everyone turned their back on the 2nd generation Pokemon game and its Pokemon. Board 8ers have now become so negative about sending anything from 2nd gen Pokemon into the contest setting.

But 44% against Majora's Mask, the eventual champion and now-revealed as a really strong game on the site, is STILL REALLY STRONG. In the X-stats GSC is ahead of LoZ: Wind Waker and MGS3 by a small but signifigant margin.

Lugia is THE mascot of GSC, the others like Ho-oh or starters are usually behind in online polls. Because of Lugia being on the cover and being more popular than Ho-Oh, I feel that the highest amount of GSC's power would be transferred to it over any other Pokemon from 2nd gen.

This is probably all true and Pokemon GSC didn't do that badly all things considered. Lugia would likely be a good choice for a guru nom.

MINI SKYWARD SWORD SPOILERS

Link shares more romance/affection with Zelda in Skyward Sword than with any of those other girls. Plus, she does kiss him at the end of Zelda II, which is about the extent of Mario and Peach's relationship in any of the SMB games.

I missed the couples debate but I'd take it over a tag-team redux because Princess Peach would finally get somewhere!

What is the most likely contest for next year? Best Game Ever III or back to the regular Character Battle? I know the board has been trying to sell Allen on CB Been-in-a-game over CB Originated-from-a-game, and though Allen hasn't specifically said he'll never run one, he may just be pocket vetoing the idea. Might be a good idea to push for something like Items or Weapons. I know Characters >> Items but at this point who isn't interested in a contest with a completely new playing field?

Cloud/Seph? lol, funny idea. The joke votes they'd get would be overwhelmed by the voters' natural repulsion to such a couple, however. Link/Zelda should win that contest more easily than Link/Ganondorf win this one.

Simba may not be the strongest character from his movie. Scar is the one everyone loves and has the song everyone loves, and Mufasa has Darth Vader voice and is the focal point of... hell, it might be the most powerful film moment for our generation. Simba is the main character, sure, but he's an annoying little brat for the first half of the movie, and we have no way of knowing whether the "main guy = strongest character" theory we have accepted for games is applicable to movies. I very much doubt, for example, that Luke Skywalker and Frodo would be the strongest characters from their respective fictions.
