There have been a few AAA stabs at it outside of FS, and a metric fuck ton of AA and indie games in the genre. like? i can only think of nioh as being relatively "big". other than that it has been all about soulsborne(and sekiro). yeah minecraft was/is also really big and most likely in second place if i had to choose but it just got ported left and right instead of everyone trying to come out with their own version of it. --- |

| AsucaHayashi 12/16/19 10:46:29 AM #24 | in terms of what? if it's immediate reach and influence there's nothing that comes close to pubg. no other genre or game was treated like the golden goose where nearly the whole fucking industry tried to cash in on the craze with their own version and more or less failed just as quickly except for one obvious competitor. something like DS was also created in a vacuum since DS-inspired games mostly came from FS themselves.. dunno about the future but as for this decade it's not really close. even when it comes to the combat i'd say arkham style was easily as influential. --- |
