it's like a weird self-fulfilling prophecy type deal.

some say incredibly polished, others like me would call it incredibly tedious. this is a popular trend in modern games and nobody takes it as far RDR2.

watching arthur go through the motion of skinning the same animal like so many other things much fun, so wow the first 10 times, but something you wish would just GO AWAY COMPLETELY AFTER THE 100th+ time.

that said the most tedious parts come in the form of the cut scenes and walking/riding + talking parts which is why anyone who plays it really have to "charge up" by doing fun side activities for an hour or so in between every lengthy(read = boring af) section.

You're mad that online games... get content updates?

This is not an argument against new content. I am a long-time World of Warcraft grognard. The early wave of MMOs pioneered the business apparatus that has subsumed the entire big-budget sector, and back in 2005 there was nothing more exciting in my life than logging in after Patch Day. You likely feel the same way about your favorite games;
no Destiny-head bemoans an expansion release, and new champions are treated like instant celebrities within the League of Legends community. But sometimes when I jump back into a game after a new season and see a splashy new title screen and a bevy of "locked" symbols, I feel dread instead of excitement.

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/its-become-impossible-to-keep-up-with-all-these-damn-seasons/

a few choice quotes:
Fall Guys is currently in the midst of its fourth season. If it keeps its current pace up, it'll be catching up to the Simpsons' season numbers around 2025.

the "triple-A" ecosystem seems to demand it. Remember how people clowned on Apex Legends for daring to take a deep breath before unveiling a new character? The game is currently on its ninth season, barely two years after its initial release.

Somewhere along the way, the powers that be concluded every single product needed to aspire toward being the customer's sole obsession. The idea of "finishing" a game, to be confident that you've absorbed its full expanse, was determined to be outmoded and profit-eating. Now Assassin's Creed beckons players back every day with a rotating set of dynamic missions and cosmetic loot on strict timers (the next game is called Assassin's Creed: Infinity, which could not have made the point for me better).

This is not an argument against new content. I am a long-time World of Warcraft grognard. The early wave of MMOs pioneered the business apparatus that has subsumed the entire big-budget sector, and back in 2005 there was nothing more exciting in my life than logging in after Patch Day. I hate how we've started to communicate on corporate's terms. One of the sickest burns in inter-gaming beef is to call someone else's favorite game "dead." Overwatch? Dead game. Dota 2? Dead game. StarCraft? Dead game.

Sometimes I think we need to pass down this wisdom and warn our zoomer colleagues before it's too late. You know that apprehension you feel after connecting to Dead By Daylight and immediately being confronted with so many meta-systems, experience trackers, and monetization triggers that the bureaucracy feels more terrifying than Freddy or Leatherface? Doesn't it suck to start playing a game when it's already on "Chapter 19" when you'd rather start from the beginning? Doesn't the constant, hindering reminder of how far behind you are seem annoying at best and exploitative at worst? It doesn't have to be like this. It wasn't like this. Hell, the first Quake still plays pretty well! We must try to go back before it's too late.

also, who's excited to apparently play the next assassin's creed for seemingly forever? xd

wait i always thought mandarin refers to the spoken dialect. am i wrong?

https://abroadlink.com/blog/many-chinese-do-not-understand-each-other

id you know that when we talk about the Chinese language we are usually referring to standard Mandarin? However, several language groups are spoken in China, and they are so different that speakers of the different language groups cannot understand each other.

Chinese dialects and number of speakers

Mandarin (or Northern dialects), 836 million speakers, Wu, 77 million, Min dialects, 70 million, Cantonese or Yue, 55 million, Jin, 45 million, Xiang or Hunan, 36 million, Hakka or Kji, 34 million, Gan, 31 million, Hui, 3.2 million, Pinghua, 3.5 million.

Despite the fact that these languages can be incomprehensible orally, they all use the same written symbols. Without a doubt, this characteristic of Chinese is fundamental in enabling the cohesion of such a diverse country.

hence subtitles
