Also an update that all 6 copies of DD:DA have been sent out. Yes, six. I added an extra one because somebody showed interest, but very kindly offered to only take one if there were any left after everyone else that wanted it got it. And I'm in a giving mood lately.

Joenage gifted me Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin!

I've been wanting to give this game another chance for a while. I bought it ages ago on PS4 and I really didn't enjoy it, but it was my first ever Souls game and looking back I don't think I really gave it a fair shake. I've since played some of the others and gotten a better appreciation of the style. Only reason I never picked it back up is because I have a real hard time buying a game twice unless it's something I absolutely love (like Dragon's Dogma, RDR, FFX, and a select few others).

It'll be great to go back in with a different perspective. Thanks!

The problem with anecdotal evidence is that many who use weed already have underlying mental issues that the weed helps to regulate (depression, anxiety, etc). So it's not really fair to say that quitting "causes" someone to become anxious or depressed as if it's part of the withdrawal from weed instead of it simply being the case that the person is naturally anxious or depressed and is simply returning to their "normal" state.

It goes both ways, btw. I don't put much stock in anecdotes of people who have quit without any issues at all, despite that being my own experience.

Just as an interesting anecdote to add to this conversation, I had to take a public speaking elective course in college, and one of our assignments was a 1-on-1 debate with a classmate. I got selected to the marijuana debate (which I didn't complain about) and in prepping for it I dug into a bunch of those old studies from the 70's that compared pot smoking to cigarettes in terms of health effects.

Without exception, every single study I could find from that time was specifically and blatantly designed with the active intent to make weed appear worse. One of the most ridiculous was a study on lab mice in which they injected the mice with pure THC several times a day in what they claimed was the "equivalent of a habitual marijuana user." What that really meant was that they dosed the mice 5 times a day, claiming habitual users would smoke 5 times a day. Of course the mice all died horrifically and with rather unpleasant symptoms. However, they neglected to mention that while the NUMBER of doses was the same as a habitual pot smoker, the LEVELS of each dose were just stupendously crazy. In pure THC, the mice were given the equivalent of a human being smoking over 200 pounds of marijuana in one sitting, and they were given that 5 times a day.

Just sit back for a second and try to imagine smoking half of a literal ton of pot in a single day. The fact that many of the mice even lived for SEVERAL DAYS OF THIS DOSING speaks volumes, tbh.

Yes you can. In the same way that you can say "smart phones don't kill people" despite the fact that tons of people die because they're texting while driving. It's not the phone that killed them. It's the fact that they were a moron who didn't pay attention to where they were driving.

You can die from alcohol poisoning. You can even die from nicotine poisoning. But it is physically impossible to die from "THC poisoning" because the amount of THC required would be more than a human is physically capable of imbibing before passing out and sleeping it off.

So occasionally you're going to be sitting around the house, feel your stomach growl with hunger, and think to yourself "damn...I could really go for a slice right now..." Or maybe you'll be hanging with your friends and one of them will order a pizza or just talk about a really tasty double-cheese, sausage, and pepperoni pie they had the other day and you'll be like "mmmm, that sounds so good right now..."

Congratulations, you now have an understanding of "withdrawal" from weed.

Most sex offender registries have multiple tiers, according to the severity of the crime committed. Higher tiers typically mean more frequent check-ins with the sheriff, longer registration periods, etc.

About 10-15 minutes. Would be less than a minute if I worked at the station right by my house instead. The same owner has both stations, and when I first started I worked mostly at the closer station. But it's smaller, not as busy, and the boss wants me working the bigger station because there's more things for people to screw up and he doesn't trust anybody else to work nights there. :-/

There's a possibility that I'll get the manager position at the closer station at some point, though. Apparently the woman who manages it right now is really incompetent, and according to the boss she's on thin ice. So one more screw up and she might be gone, and I'll be next in line.

Going to bed right when you get off sucks ass because then your entire day is spent with working hanging over your head.

But it also means that you basically don't have to set an alarm, so your body is always able to get exactly as much rest as it needs. So you don't have that groggy feeling that most people do when they wake up in the morning to go to work.

Fuck I loved that game. I got accused of hacking constantly because I was so damn good with Boomer. I didn't even use a "cheat" ruler, either. I just always lined my guy up with the edge of the screen, always launched at the same angle, and was just a really good judge of screen distance.
