It has its perks, but be careful it can fuck you up.
It's basically imposable to be 'normal' while working nights.

Oh and don't buy into that shit..You have the whole day to yourself, at some point that will fade.

Hard to have the whole day to yourself when you're asleep through most of it with a few hours before you have to go back to work.

Oh...That's my point. I've had people say that to me and I'm all like WTF. That is not how it works.

I actually get a little pissed when I heard people say that.

Same can be said for day shift. The trick is to either go to sleep right off work or stay up all day. Just don't let sleep split your day and it's fine.

Going to bed right when you get off sucks ass because then your entire day is spent with working hanging over your head.

But it also means that you basically don't have to set an alarm, so your body is always able to get exactly as much rest as it needs. So you don't have that groggy feeling that most people do when they wake up in the morning to go to work.

yeah i used to be resistant to sleeping right away
but i've found that it's actually way better since i naturally wake up around when people are getting off or are off of work

Then stay up and sleep in the afternoon. That's how I do it, though more because I work a schedule where I sometimes work late.

When I did sleep right after work, it felt more like just going into work when everyone else was asleep anyway. No real downside.

When you say nightshift, are you meaning graveyard shift (around 12A-8A) or are you meaning second shift (around 4P-12A)?

I'm assuming grave unless he really likes staying up all night after getting off work.

The thing about normal business hours is everything opens when you get to work and closes when you leave.

Well there are a lot of things about normal business hours but that's the relevant one.

I actually did that when I worked 2nds. By the time I got off work, I was hyped up and couldn't sleep. That's why I asked, cause you never know.

I'm in nursing support (monitor tech)

So I have to work the nursing schedule with the PCT's (CNA's), Phlebotomists, and Respiratory Therapists.

Oh okay! That's neat.

I remember working with monitor techs when I was in a step down ICU as a student, they seemed like pretty good peeps. :)

I worked in a chemical factory standing up all day and sweating as my last job so it's like a 100% flip flop from that.

I like everything about nights aside from the food options.

When I work 0600-1400 i am completely tired and sleep until 1700 when I get home. And I cant fall asleep before 2400

When I work 1400-2200 I stay awake until 0400 and wake up at 1200.

When I work 2200-0600 i go to sleep at 0800 and wake up at between 1200-1400.

Nightshift is best shift.

Where I work the food in the nightshift is better than what you get when working afternoon shift.

I'm getting really tired of my job now, and I've got to say, that seems interesting.
I think I would be good at that. Care to describe the experience a bit more?
