n August 2012, Wurzelbacher drew criticism for a comment he made about illegal immigration. During a campaign rally for Arizona State Senator Lori Klein, Wurzelbacher said, "For years I've said, you know, put a damn fence on the border, going to Mexico and start shooting."[95]
When asked about the comment later, he said that he didn't care about being "politically incorrect." Klein defended Wurzelbacher, telling reporters his comments were just a joke.[96][97]

Published reaction to Santa Barbara, California, mass shooting

In an open letter to the parents of victims who died in the 2014 Isla Vista killings,[98] Wurzelbacher wrote of his right to "protect my family" stating, "As harsh as this soundsyour dead kids don't trump my Constitutional rights ... We still have the Right to Bear Arms ... Any feelings you have toward my rights being taken away from me, lose those."[99][100][101]

Whitney gave me trouble with Miltank. I don't remember Elite 4 being that bad. But it's been a decade since I played HGSS (which iirc has four generations of Pokemon), and Crystal, 10 years before that.

Even if I get summoned, I have a legit medical reason why I can't sit for an extended period of time so I think I'd get dismissed
Are you pretty young? Nah they could still summon you. If you can take the bus, you can. But if it's too far awa, no reliable means if transportation got school, etc then you're fine.

lilORANG posted...
They don't really care. They mail out hundreds of juror summons in the event the 40 or so they need don't show. Proving you were deliberately ghosting would be hard too bc the summons are not certified mail so they can't really show you got it, unless you were dumb enough to post about it online.
Or if you sign in online.

But I dunno. Wouldn't be surprised how many cases per year people get summoned and fined and actually didn't get it in the mail, or they did not didn't respond.

It would suck so bad if I got selected to be on a jury of a high-profile case. You know, the ones where they have you sequestered. Your phone is confiscated, cant watch the news, confined to your hotel room, and only watch movies that the court approves. All in an effort to not influence your decision and it could go on for weeks.
You're actually not allowed to do any research on any case you get assigned to anyway.

I mean that situation you mentioned takes it up a notch, but it's for your safety.

You have to take care of someone and they are financially and physically dependent on you. Like your parents.

It counts as a hardship. Do what you will. I genuinely had this.

If you show up, don't come in with a fake wheezing and cough and ask to be dismissed. That's what one guy did today. And he sounded completely fine when he asked, "am I finished now?"

If you are legit sick though, you should be able to get it dismissed/deferred by a few months at least. Even COVID (unless you live on a red state). Just show some proof just in case.

If you also recently just moved, you can be dismissed as well.

The first time I got called in, was 8 years ago. I had a crappy contract job that would not compensate me at all for jury duty. I told the judge that was my financial hardship, and they said too bad not a good excuse. I then said I had to pay my mom's medication and take care of her, which they then dismissed me.

When I went today, the judge I talked to was more lenient. Simply having your job not covering you to be here and you had bills to pay, was financial hardship. They also pay round trip for gas now. Times have gotten better, but my judge was fair. I did also tell them I was the sole provider and has to help my mom out financially--which is true. But I had to get back and see if my job covered compensated.

When I got back, the case was dismissed because the court date wasn't today after all apparently.

Where do you live (what State, if American), If it's in your county, you have to go. If it's out of county, you either call or show up in person to them you're not eligible.

Don't Ghost. You could get fined or jailed. I get that some people just claim they never got the notice, but it's not worth risking banking on that. Just go if you are called in. Stay there and report financial hardship (if it is.. like you have to pay bills and your employer isn't going to cover you.. especially if it's more than a week).
[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

They do fine you if you are called and you don't show up. They can send you to jail too. That's not false.

Is it really worth the hassle and peace of mind trying to fight it, if you knowingly did get it and you just pretend you never got it? It's one thing if you legit didn't get it, then by all means, fight.

The 5 year old was his niece and she was in her early 20's when the trial happened. It was fucked because she confronted him on Facebook and he was saying that she knows she liked it...

He's in jail for the rest of his life. The deliberation lasted less than 5 minutes. Wish I could remember his name though to link an article or something.

Anyway, my jury duty lasted a week and a half for that one and my job paid for my hours. IIRC, if your job doesn't pay you, then the court does. But it's usually an insultingly low amount. So I hope your trial doesn't last long

I know that, but I could never do that.

Getting out of jury duty is not my concern at the moment, as long as I get paid from my work. It would be a hardship if I couldn't. I straight up told the judge today I wasn't sure and had to get back to HR and my boss. I have to get back to him in an hour.

I actually save money by going to jury duty vs going to work. It's also a very short trial .I just felt really bad about leaving my coworkers with work, and hope that I don't get even more work next week when I come back.

I am a little nervous about doing it. It's not gonna be a cake walk.

Speaking about getting out of jury duty. This one dude came in late (around 9.. but that's fine, nobody was called anyway at that time). Dude faked a very obvious loud audible wheezing sound twice, and was told to step aside into the hallway. He then asked on a very normal voice of he was excused from Jury Duty, and they said he would only be deferred by 3 months. Lmao. If he just waited and got in line to argue for hardship. He's get 12 months.

My work is weird in the sense that I don't have any days allocated for it (like a week's worth of pay). I can get no deduction in pay as long as I work part of the week.

I just read the description of the video.

I had a coworker like that at my current job. Both factors. Grandiose, pathological lying, and manipulation. Sucked at her job, and very hard to train, and blamed others for it. No accountability whatsoever. Almost got fired. She got lucky and got laid off. After the lay off, said her old old workers being incompetent and implying she wasn't. I honestly thought she was a sociopath.

My boss from my last job was narcissistic as hell. Threw people under the bus, brown nosed her boss, sweet to others and nasty to me when others were not around. Wish I reported her. I just feared her.

Reporting your neighbors because they are refugees are racism.
Reporting your neighbors because they are here illegally, dont pay taxes and pick out subsidy are not racism.
Spot the difference.
The line will get blurred though...

Anyhow, Republicans are gonna take notes. I'm sure they'll bring it up in the elections in the states.
