Konami, reviving franchises after they spent decades killing off franchises, shuffling staff between projects for maximum profit and gutting their game development studios to make shitty pachinko machines? Good luck.

Konami literally brought Bomberman back from the dead just a few months ago. Anything's possible.

Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan and Asia President Atsushi Morita and Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studio Shuhei Yoshida took part in a panel organized by Weekly Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation at the National Entertainment Festival held at the Yanagase Shopping Arcade in Gifu, Japan.

During the event, one of the questions inquired on whether Sony would ever release a RPG dedicated to the Japanese audience for consoles again, since Arc the Lad and Wild Arms games are being developed for mobile platforms.

The answer, relayed by the Japanese site Panora (which did not identify whether it came from Yoshida-san or Morita-san), was certainly vague, but not entirely discouraging.

We hear that Sony has received many requests from veteran fans – not limited to Arc the Lad and Wild Arms – for the resurrection of SIE Japan Studio’s titles focused on the Japanese audience, especially a few JRPG franchises. Yet, in Recent years, due to the soaring of development costs, investment has been mainly focused on titles which could be hits on a global scale.

That being said, recently Japanese studios’ games developed for Japanese gamers have received high praise overseas. This is leading Sony to begin considering whether it could be profitable for its Worldwide Studios to make that kind of game again.

There are a lot of “maybes” and “considering” in there, which means that we definitely should not take this as a promise. Yet, it’s nice to hear that a return of Sony’s first party studios the JRPG genre is at least being considered in some capacity.

After all, Sony Interactive Entertainment certainly isn’t blind, and I’m sure they have taken notice of the commercial and critical success of games like Persona 5, NieR: Automata, Final Fantasy XV and Dragon Quest XI.

They managed to get Ellen Page AND Willem Dafoe for Beyond Two Souls. You guys are saying it's somehow worse than Heavy Rain? I don't understand how David Cage and his team learn nothing from their mistakes made during Heavy Rain. It makes me fear for the Detroit Become Human video game.

That was probably the part of the game I hated the most. What's even more detestable is that people, both the devs and many players, thought this was an okay thing to do. It's not.

Alright, going to try and condense my thoughts into this single post. Overall, the game was not a complete piece of garbage. However, it was not good. Not even okay. I'm not really sure how anyone could recommend this to another person in good conscience.

Let's begin with the actual "gameplay". It's decent enough QTE. At times, it works. At times, it's laughable. For the most part in my experience, the controls were responsive. The devs ended up nailing the interactive experience but there were many times where I felt that some of the tasks required were redundant and unnecessary. Personally, since the game was interactive, I was hoping for more segments that required the player to think and this game didn't deliver on that which was disappointing since it supposed to be a mystery. That brings me to the next part.

The story is a mess. When the game ended, I had so many questions. There are many plot holes that become more annoying when you start thinking about them. That's ridiculous. If you are making a story centered game, then it should not fall apart by the end. Hell, any story shouldn't fall apart and be riddled with plot holes. I didn't like the mystery. I thought it was blatantly obvious who the Origami killer was even with all the red herrings the game throws at you. A good mystery has you guessing all the way to the end. This mystery had me stop guessing early on in the game. Also, when the killer was revealed and the game showed how the killer did everything, I should have been thinking how it all makes sense. Instead, I was thinking of how stupid the reveal was.

The main characters and some of the side characters are alright, I suppose? Didn't care for them too much. The villain characters felt cartoonish, cliche, and very hard to take seriously. If anything, I won't forget some of these characters so that's a good thing in some aspect. I liked Jayden the most.

The voice acting ranged from passable to goofy to horrendous. Honestly, took me out of the game at times because I couldn't stop laughing like with some of the QTE segments. The visuals are actually really good for a PS3 game. The develops did a great job at making a fantastic looking game. I will give them that. The sound effects were nice and clean. The music is kind of hit or miss. Mostly miss. If someone played a soundtrack from Heavy Rain to me one year from now, I may not be able to recognize it. I just finished the game and there only two or so tracks I can play in my head right now.

The glitches and bugs were deplorable. I had to restart my game several times because of a few issues. That's unacceptable. Lastly, the replayability. Apparently, you can replay through this game and get multiple endings but err, why the fuck would you? Granted, your choices do seem like they matter compared to Telltale Games shitfests but I would honestly just Youtube alternate scenarios and different endings. One play through of Heavy Rain is enough. I do not hate myself to the point where I would play this game AGAIN.

If I bought this game for $60, I would have been pissed. It's not worth $60. It's not worth $30. $10 was a good price for it. $20 is pushing it.

My thoughts may be a bit disjointed but it's 3 am right now. According to a Facebook friend, Beyond Two Souls is the best game ever made. Can't wait to play that... I'm going to watch that glitch video in the morning when I eat breakfast. Goodnight.

Not sure why I can't play this game in long sessions. I can only play it in short bursts. Anyways, I'm at the park area of the game with Ethan and Shaun.

Can't believe I had to restart the game three times in the span of one hour. Froze on me once. The audio cut out on me the second time. Third time, I couldn't interact with anything. Just aimlessly walk around.

I imagine I'm still very early on in the game but as of right now, I'm playing the game and thinking "I'd rather be doing something else with my time". Hopefully, the game becomes more engaging or at least more laughable though I actually want to enjoy my time playing video games.

By the end of the game, I want to actually care about the characters and what's happening. For now, I don't really care. Hopefully, my thoughts will change by the end of the game.

One last thing... Whoever thought it was a good idea for needing to hold a button TO WALK should be taken out back and force fed garbage.
