The accusations against Churchill aren't that he was mildly insensitive. It's that he viewed Indians as so subhuman that he coldly dismissed (at best) a famine that resulted in millions of deaths.

"I hate Indians," he told the Secretary of State for India, Leopold Amery. "They are a beastly people with a beastly religion." The famine was their own fault, he declared at a war-cabinet meeting, for "breeding like rabbits."

As Mukerjee's accounts demonstrate, some of India's grain was also exported to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) to meet needs there, even though the island wasn't experiencing the same hardship; Australian wheat sailed past Indian cities (where the bodies of those who had died of starvation littered the streets) to depots in the Mediterranean and the Balkans; and offers of American and Canadian food aid were turned down. India was not permitted to use its own sterling reserves, or indeed its own ships, to import food. And because the British government paid inflated prices in the open market to ensure supplies, grain became unaffordable for ordinary Indians. Lord Wavell, appointed Viceroy of India that fateful year, considered the Churchill government's attitude to India "negligent, hostile and contemptuous."

One, no one here said Obama was a Muslim. However, an anti-Muslim stance is certainly appealing to lots of Christians, especially evangelicals....

From what I heard Wright she he believed the US government was had the capability to do such a thing. And the US's record when it comes to how they treat black people when it comes to this stuff is not one that is not with out his black eyes. Beyond ,that statement is far less horrible than the stuff said on the 700 club.

I'm still not hooked three episodes in (as in, where I have to restrain myself from marathoning the whole series in two days or less). Too much sex stuff. Some elements are silly (non-super rich people are being prevented from backing up their stacks, how?).

I still do not understand people bitching about the sex in the show. It's absolutely a realistic situation that once you've removed the majority of religious sexual mores and set up a world where people can indulge in all their most debauched fantasies with little to no consequence that they will in fact do so at every opportunity. Sex is one of our most basic primal urges.

These people who claim to be Christians don't give an ever living fuck about the faith as long as white man is in office. Obama was wear closer the ideal man of god they say they want.

One thing I don't understand: Just like 2 days ago the FBI was saying that releasing this memo could have consequences on national security due to the classified nature of the memo.

So if this is the memo... WTF was their big issue in the first place? I don't think the FBI as a whole is biased, but it seems a bit shady to go so apocalyptic on the release of what everyone here is saying is an inconsequential list of things people already knew.

So word is the reason the FBI didn't want the memo released is NOT because they didn't want to look bad. It's because the memo lists the exact dates of when Carter Page was under surveillance. This means Russia now knows exactly what was heard by the FBI. #FISAMemo

I don't know yet, but I don't trust people like Seth Abramson. He made false claims about Paul Wood's reporting for the BBC. I recognized that right away. He also insinuated that one finding of probable cause in 2013 was enough to indefinitely extend the FISA warrant. The memo, OTOH, cites a statute that supposedly states that a separate finding of probable cause is needed for each renewal. However, I'm not so sure after reading the statute in question.

Ah yeah, I forgot about the mention of Chabad, which did strike me as peculiar at the time, as I'm familiar with them as a friendly community organization. The Politico article offers some good background though: 1) Putin directly intervened to make Chabad the primary Russian Jewish organization. 2) Felix Sater, Trump associate, onetime mob-affiliate, onetime government informant, and potentially key Trump-Russia connection, is heavily involved with Chabad.

In any case it seems like it's just (potentally coincidental) background info at this point, and not very important to any outstanding claims or allegations regarding Trump-Russia.

Wray and Rosenstein had their chance to argue why memo should not be released. They were overruled, even after other intelligence officials saw it. That they are now campaigning against WH in the media and with statements is pretty outrageous, to say the least. #FullofSchiff

Having read The Memo, the FBI is right to have grave concerns - as it will shake the organization down to its core - showing Americans just how the agency was weaponized by the Obama officials/DNC/HRC to target political adversaries.
