I do this thing where I buy RPGs, don't start them until 6 months - 3 years later, and then only play them for a week or two before picking up a different game

I think I spent five months beating FF7, and I only put like 40 hours in it lol

Back when Xenoblade was new, I played it over the summer when I was on break from college and I legit put 140 hours into it over two weeks

I'll never have that level of free time again until I retire

One of my friends was getting married 4/1 (no it wasn't an April fool's prank)

They ended up cancelling all the stuff. They're still getting married but they're moving the party to a later date (undetermined at this time)

I've watched several people play it, both fresh starts/people grinding through early game and time travelers cheating the turnip market with their friends and buying up all the doodads

And there is a giant fuck ton of shit in this game. Lots of variety everywhere

I really want to get it, but my gaming budget is spent for this month. So maybe I'll get it if it ever goes on sale (next month a new Magic set comes out so my money's tied up there lol)

LA was the first I played, OoT was the first I owned, OoA was the first I beat

There was a long stretch of time where I'd play the Zelda games through the first dungeon and then restart them over and over. I have no idea why lol

I couldn't tell you why BotW only has one save slot per profile. Maybe they didn't expect people to play the game multiple times? It definitely isn't a "space" issue since you can work around it by making multiple profiles

As for why save data is unique per profile, it's so multiple people can share a switch (like, if you have a kid or three, and all of you use the same switch)

One small pet peeve: Why only one save file? I know there's autosave but I'm really surprised they only allow one save file.

If you want multiple files, you'll need to make multiple profiles on your switch

Save data is unique for each profile, so you can't copy a save or whatever. But if you want to start the game again without erasing your original file, you can do it

You can actually skip any one of Monstro, Atlantica, or Halloween Town

Basically you pick two and that's enough to progress the story

You will always be eaten by Monstro, but you can just leave and nothing will happen lol (if you return later, scenes with Riku will be slightly different if you're late enough in the story)

I like KH1 Atlantica. It's basically the same as (later game spoilers) Neverland after you get flight power just underwater

I spent a lot of time in Atlantica grinding out materials for Ultima Weapon, so maybe that made me like it more lol

Like any other skill, they gain mastery by putting in ten thousand+ hours of focused practice with consistent feedback (the feedback in this case is a timer and discord)

I actually prefer some of the GBA tunes, e.g. Exdeath's theme (not the battle music) has a lot more punch to it

I played it for 15 or so hours. It's... okay? Nothing terrible about it but nothing especially good either. The music is all solo piano, so ymmv but I think it's pretty good for what it is

Combat is basically the same as Chrono Trigger, nothing new or exciting here

As someone who works in a law firm (not in IT) this is correct from my experience

We have individual logins, but only THIS YEAR were we actually required to change our passwords to login to the record keeping software

I used the same (default!) password to login every day for four years

Near the third act of the game I just opened all my legendary cores (around 50) and got every rare blade with cores to spare

I popped kosmos while trying to get a wind element blade. I had no idea she was so rare until I looked at all the people melting down on the board

One minor thing that always bugged me about the cutscenes were all the useless yes/no questions you had to answer. Either the answer didn't matter, or the wrong answer just cycled you back to the question until you picked the right one.

A funny thing about this in The Lost Age is that if you always answer the yes/no question the "wrong" way, about 2/3 through the game Kraden goes ballistic and freaks out asking if you (Felix) think this is just some sort of game

And of course in GS1 there's (famously?) a yes/no near the beginning that gives you a game over

The series has great production value for the era (probably the best looking GBA games, one of Sakuraba's best soundtracks)

The puzzle elements are pretty well done, especially in The Lost Age (it's not Zelda, but for RPG dungeons these are high tier, and were especially good for the time)

The plot is quite bad. And the presentation of the plot is even worse. And even though there are about a billion lines of dialogue, hardly any of it is interesting

If there were a way to play the games without sitting through hours of mindless dialogue, I would recommend it (you can, of course, mash through all the cutscenes. But it'll make finding the next plot point a bit trickier lol)
