Yes. I do know families who are like that.

But it's not really because of racism (strictly).

They are kinda like the Japanese. They believe in the purity of their lineage; culture, language and religion. From an anthropological point of view, I can't feel negative about their preferences. Historically, this is how cultures have been formed, endured and survived to this day.

Anyway, to each his own. As long as they don't promote these ideas boldly and loudly so as to undermine interracial dating and marriage or something that crosses a legal boundary, I'm ok with that.

I can't judge them any more than they can judge others.

TopicAnybody here prefer to live with their parents?
Alexandra_Trent
12/12/17 1:15:16 PM

Hmm....hard to say.

I grew up with a big family; 4 siblings with mum and dad.

Right now, I live alone and I love the independence. However I do miss living with my parents at times; my mum's cooking and great conversations with my dad. I miss waking up to a noisy home; always lively with buzzing activity and idle chatter! Also, I just miss being in that cocoon of protection and comfort. Reminiscing on how childhood life is; where there's no future but the afternoon. :))

Buuuuut.

I like my independence. When you live under your parents' roof, you must abide by their rules. You also can't show any form of aggression or sarcasm. By being under their roof, you basically revert back into a child. Different opinions will clash; discussions on how things are/should be managed at home can turn into an argument. And parents can be overbearing at times. They tend to lecture and sometimes pry into your personal and professional life which you may not be ready for (especially after a stressful day at work).

The opposite is also true. Living with loved ones can provide you the emotional support that everyone needs from time to time. You may gain some insight on how life is and how you'd want to live it from listening to there words of wisdom or just by idly chatting with them.

For me, though, I'd visit often and probably spend a weekend or two at their place, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I don't think it's got to do with them being Liberals.

Just good conduct, proper upbringing with good familial values are enough.

Being white in the Middle East in the 1980s, I was considered the minority. I've never experienced a stigma or prejudice growing up. If anything, I've only experienced prejudice from other whites during High School as I read, wrote and spoke Arabic and exhibited Arabic-ish values and conservative mannerisms.

That's just wrong. Totally unacceptable behaviour.

There was no need for that woman to prattle on about homosexuality and its lifestyle being unacceptable. Her personal feelings on the matter wasn't necessary. If she didn't want to work with her, just cancel the request. There was no need for such crude remarks.

This kind of people are cowards.

They have no spine. They kill those who can't defend themselves.

They think life is hard? Work is hard? They have no idea what true suffering is. They take everything that THEY DO HAVE for granted.

If they want to end their lives, it's their decision but to bring innocents with them? That's just unforgivable.

Personally, I can relate to this option.

I've played FF4, FF7-10, FF13, 13-2, LR and Tactics but skipped some of them. And the reasons are varied.

There are some games that I intentionally left out (FF11 and FF 12. Didn't care for their battle system)

Some games I didn't get the chance to play when the interest was there; time constraint and I didn't buy the game at that time.

Nowadays, time is something I hardly have. So I don't want to invest my time in a game that I may not like. So it's either I research a bit if I really want to try it out or skip it completely.

If a person is wrong and doesn't admit it, it really doesn't matter in the greater scheme of things. It won't change the knowledge you have, your opinions or beliefs.

Why is there a need to subjugate him and parade his mistake? Why is there a profound desire to see another grovel for erring?

I don't think the word "date" to mean exactly that. Parents use this word as a playful word; as if their child was a grown up. And children love to be fawned over; they like being told that they're on their way to being grown up; ready to take on responsibility, protect and cherish mum and his sisters etc etc.

Hm....on the surface it's easy to say yes; good-looking people have advantages. But on the other hand, there are cases wherein beautiful girls or women have been a target of abuse because they stand out.

Beautiful people born from impoverished places can be targets for abuse; simply because they catch the eye of the wrong people. And they have no means to resist or assert themselves.

So I can guess having beauty has duality in effect; like everything else. It can be a blessing or a curse; sometimes both.
