Uncounted time that can take 10 minutes:
Parking and walking to the restaurant
Waiting in the carryout line or trying to communicate with the worker
The worker tells you it's coming out right now and he's teasing you lol
Walking back to your car

But during all of this time, you haven't left the store yet with the food and the App shouldn't have changed to say "Dasher heading to you". What I'm saying is if DoorDash support can see based the time each status took (waiting at restaurant, dasher heading to you, etc) and they can tell that you are still waiting for the order for 40 minutes, then they shouldn't hold any time delay against you the driver, but against the restaurant. If I'm quoted a 45 minute delivery and 1.5 hrs is you waiting at the restaurant, and then 10 minutes for you to travel to bring it to me, DoorDash support should be looking at those statuses and holding that issue against the restaurant, not you. The restaurant should pay for that, not you.

Once that order status changes to "Dasher heading to you", if I live 5 minutes away and it takes you 55 minutes to get to my house, and you deliver to the wrong house, I should have the ability to take that tip back.

The time doesn't calculate the room for the restaurant to mess up. Some restaurants are good with handling door dash orders and others are completely terrible like Wing Stop cough cough. I am lucky to arrive at a restaurant and see the order ready for pick up or the order is close to being ready. Some restaurants don't even start the order until you arrive and screw you.

You might not know this, but can DoorDash support not see when an order status changes from "Waiting at restaurant" to "Dasher heading to you" ? I find it hard to believe that's not tracked, even if you as the driver cannot see it.

In what way would you be penalized? Doordash tracks the time the order was delivered and can compare it to the delivery time range that was quoted to the customer, so there shouldn't be any issue unless you are delivering late and outside of that window.

And you take photos of the deliveries you drop off, yes? So Doordash should be able to see that it is at the right address.

So as long as you are doing everything you should be doing as a driver in a timely manner and following any instructions left by the buyer, you shouldn't have an issue.

I agree there should be something in place for abuse, as I have said. Have the tip that was submitted and potentially removed reviewed by a Doordash support person for all I care. (Maybe this is how it's done now, I have no idea. I actually don't ever try to revoke tips so not sure if there's something already in place)

This is a good idea, but we also had assholes bait and switching with tips early on. Customers would offer a huge tip so their order would get delivered quickly (Almost like a bribe...), and then they would change the tip to be much lower at the last minute.

There should definitely be something in place to prevent abuse, I agree.

Instacart, which I order groceries from for example, allows me to adjust my tip after delivery. I rarely use it, but have on a handful of occassions when there were serious issues that didn't match what was on the app.

I have delivered pizzas in college, and I have done door dash. As a former delivery person, I always opt for carryout because I don't know the person delivering my food and I also know the unpredictable nature of delivering food. There are a million things that could've caused your food to be late and apartments are a pain in the ass to find regardless of if you are using google maps or not. I love how people order their food at peak rush hour time and expect it not to be affected by it lmao.

Nice generalization. I live in a townhouse and it was done after lunch time. But yeah, make excuses for the delivery driver that delivered my food several houses away and by the time I was able to determine what house, the people had already opened my food so I had to re-order (since the driver stopped communicating wtih me)

The tips should be conditional. The driver should be able to see the tip, but that tip shouldn't be charged to the consumer until after the order is delivered. Let the successful delivery activate the tip, but give the user a way to update/remove the tip if they received poor service.

I've had food deliveries delivered to the wrong house before and the driver stopped answering messages and wouldn't answer the phone even though they said they were going to come back and re-deliver from the house it went to. I then had to re-order my food.

I always tip on my doordash orders and very rarely make an issue with the driver, but there are times when a tip should be revoked.

I'd always wanted to try it, and when I learned there was a skydiving club called "The Dropouts" at my college I decided to give it a go. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. And so far it's the only thing I've ever found where people describe it by saying "you just have to experience it yourself to understand" and they're not just bullshitting. I've still never been able to truly put words to it.

I've only ever done the 1 jump, sadly. I really wanted to go through the full licensing course and get certified, but it was fairly expensive and money was a little tight at the time so I had to put it on hold. Never was able to get back to it. Now I'm in my late 30's and although I could afford it at this point, I don't have that same "invincible" feeling as I did when I was younger. And although I would genuinely love to go at least a couple more times, half the fun is having someone with you to share the experience with. Which is understandably harder and harder to find as I get older. Maybe one day...

I fully recommend it to anybody who's even slightly curious. Just make sure you do your due diligence and look into the reputation and history of whatever club or school you're going to use. There's always going to be a few sketchy motherfuckers in every industry, but this one has your life in their hands in a far more literal and immediate way than most, so take your time choosing. But also don't be paralyzed by the possibility of something bad happening. Skydiving with a proper instructor and well respected school/club is incredibly safe specifically because they know how dangerous it can be and they go the extra mile to quintuple-check everything before even getting on the plane.
