Final Fantasy 7, the Switch port.

3x speed, no encounters, and battle boost are amazing. Only really used battle boost for grinding the gold saucer arena for Omnislash because *heck* doing that all over again in one sitting. Still didn't even make me immune to RNG, got accessory broken, toaded, then an enemy berserked me. An enemy that can heal himself. It took him forever to kill me once I finally relented and turned boost off. A hilarious punishment for cheating I suppose.

Picked up for $5 on steam to play with my friend, having an absolute blast with it.

Anyway the game is still pretty dope, though I don't see myself actually playing it dozens of times for the scores now that I'm two runs in. It's neat that its almost kinda-sorta like a 1990s roguelite in a way.

Star Fox 2
Obviously, unreleased game so not many chances to play it. Actually ran through a whole game, which is to say I saw the end credits, I dunno if that truly counts as "beating" this style of game, since it looks like they've gone for an arcadey score-attack style of game you replay over and over, but it was a good, fun run. Managed 0% damage to Corneria... Normal seems to be a bit too easy, Falco and Peppy alternating and health items meant we could kinda just facetank whatever and just shoot down whatever was in the way with impunity. I'm sure Hard and Expert are closer to the difficulty they really went for.

As a sequel to Star Fox goes, its not great, but as a standalone game it is kinda dope.!

Burger King is good if you eat it immediately. Shelf life is like literally only 10-15 minutes. If you wait to take it home it's going to suck. It's also really hit-or-miss location-wise. Need to find one with employees giving half a shit.

Anyway for my hot take, FFT has not aged well at all. Don't really enjoy it like I once did.

Oh, damn. This thead's all about weighlifting, huh? I've been trying to do a ton more cardio but its hard to find fitness discussion groups that aren't just all about bench press numbers, etc.

Does anyone have any cardio tips, though? I've been taking 45-60 minute walks around town now that I'm waking up earlier each day, moving away from that night shift life and seeing sunlight again.

I kinda agree on Chrono Cross. Honestly it's only got like, two good tracks. One of the most grating normal battle themes in any RPG.

Fire Emblem Engage

Solid gameplay, fun characters. Beautiful presentation. LOVE the series fanservice. Story is ...unambitious lets say, though some beats at the end are pretty hype.

Do not care for Gardevoir or Lopunny.

Scarlet/Violet are awesome.

Mewtwo is scary but I think Raiden is strong enough to deal with literally everyone on his own and then it comes down to Raiden and Gordon vs Mewtwo.

I think Team Raiden has it.

It does make it iconic in the larger scheme of things. The level of harassment could potentially lead to a bunch of policy changes, shift the attitudes of key streamers, and inspire more memes. That's what makes something iconic. Plus Harry Potter is one of the biggest IPs in the world, appealing to "non-gamers".

I've heard more about this game that I have literally zero interest in than stuff that's actually on my radar. Every day there's a new story of some streamer getting witch hunted over the damn thing because Rowling happens to be a piece of shit. Its getting to where this is bigger than just "popular video game".

It's probably Hogwarts based solely on the screeching people have been doing. The harassment streamers are getting for playing it is just attracting more eyes to it.

The most vocal people are those that hate things, followed by those that love things, followed very very distantly by everyone else.

If majority like but don't love something, the hate becomes very prominent, because nobody cares about "yeah it was pretty good", but they will click on a video or article titled "why this movie RUINED EVERYTHING FOREVER!!!!!"

AA has been paraded around as B8's "mascot" game since basically the beginning, I've only even heard of y'all talking about Trails in the last few years and the exposure is still pretty much just "oh that JRPG I know nothing about". It's not mind-boggling!

Y'all. My account was made in 2001 and I've been on Board 8 since near inception, and I barely know what Trails of Whatsit is. Never played a single one.

Its not that weird of a concept that "niche JRPG series with hardly any notoriety in the West" goes under some peoples' radars.

Speaking of single player games, both series are at "two good games", but PSO was such a blockbuster it has to take it for me.

I don't see MGR Raiden as berserk literally 24/7, he has scenes of being rational after the "let er rip" bit, its just that a majority of that game has you fighting child abducting superterrorists and he's just sick to death of them. Like, he interacts with Sunny, a child, without issue.

Also, doesn't the personality change also correspond to a game mechanic that you actively toggle on/off? Implying he's not literally a hothead that is actively destructive to his environment all the time.

If its a matter of survival and he has a ton of leftover time with nothing else to do but maybe push his mission success probability up, I don't see why he wouldn't? He isn't really known for half-assing things.

By the way, regarding the "can't taste anything so how is he going to know if its good" argument, couldn't he just make multiple cakes regardless with the six entire hours he has, and if any one of them is acceptable, he wins? Is there an explicit rule for just making more than one cake?

I'm kinda not convinced Raiden would be unable to load instructions through his own advanced, futuristic network connection that has zero issue connecting him directly to all the information he might need from weird places like the sewers of Mexico, a desolate middle east warzone, or low orbit inside a shuttle.

Re-reading the terrain, a "neutral, non-descript kitchen" doesn't convince me that it has the ability to block his advanced internal signal, in the same way that my own regular modern day cell phone can connect to the internet and play at least 144p Youtube videos from most places. Raiden's also been shown to rapidly turn on live feeds of international news networks with no buffering or technical troubles from anywhere.

He might not have baking experience, but speaking anecdotally, neither did I when I baked my first cake, and the four people in my household at the time enjoyed it. It's not that hard with clear instructions, which I got solely from the internet.

Another thing that comes to mind for me is that just about any average joe will tell you free food is delicious, I feel the onus here is to create a cake that someone would call delicious, random people do not have refined palates and would be more than OK with something even if it were slightly dry if it had any amount of sweetener, frosting, et cetera on there. The mission is not "make the greatest cake of all time", but create a cake that appeals to a rando.

Even without taste receptors I kinda think he can follow video instructions, overcome the odds, and Bake an acceptably delicious cake. Though it would be kinda hard for him, I don't think someone with his level of information gathering abilities and sheer concentration could screw up this task.

Journey, Star Fox 64 are definitely the ones I'd pick. Or like, Metal Gear Rising.

Froggy never actually speaks so wins by default.

Rise of Skywalker is the only one of these new Star Wars movies that I actively disliked. Hated, even. It had a few moments of levity but for the most part it feels pretty terrible. I'll defend every other movie in the sequel trilogy but not Rise.

Its hard to pick one, but if I had to, probably Endgame, Ragnarok, or Homecoming.

Groceries are getting pushed up at more alarming rates than most of the prices at restaurants I go to, funny enough. We've been eating $3 for two slices of pizza + large drink at our local Racetrac pretty often because its just pretty impossible to beat "actually full and caffeinated" for 3 bucks a person.
