By "in politics" do you mean the actual politicians? I think probably quite a bit of them are freethinkers that have decided to sit under the same umbrella to be more effective. This undermines their effectiveness as well, in ways that are different than the ways that it promotes their effectiveness. Overall, they have decided to go with what's popular so that they can be heard and represent the people to the best of their ability. Probably?

That's the way I see it...there are lots of freethinkers who are merely operating in a very limited system and have a label on them. Don't get me wrong. There are a lot of idiots too. One of these parties will have to win out and change things from the inside out so that we can allow for things like ranked order voting, etc. to increase choice. However, culture always has its impact on politics too. So there are ways to influence that process that works from the inside out, by impacting the 'outside' portion that process via culture. This is what the arts can do, for instance.

Who knows the story to that specific invention, but I imagine a lot of people invent things that they already have a huge interest in. They've already spent time thinking about that area of knowledge involving that invention, and then they have the idea. Then perhaps they need to learn more to manifest the invention, but once they have the idea, they're even more driven to learn than before. I find it less likely that someone would be completely detached from the field of knowledge required for an invention, and then learn EVERYTHING more or less and finally making it a reality after like a decade or something.

Yes, I do. I have it. I have some 4k movies as well. And I was gifted a new bookcase. Now all my games and movies are neatly organized, with some other stuff sitting on it in strategically decided upon locations. For instance, I have a "Do or do not. There is no try." metal plate thingy with Yoda on it, sitting atop the third shelf. Yes, it's true.

Also there is a Nintendo Switch lunchbox style case sitting atop the second shelf from the bottom. Oh did I forget? The Yoda plate is on the shelf third from the bottom. I did not specify. Now you know. Sorry about that. Now I will go over the books that I own that are sitting on the top shelf, where they are most easily accessed for my enjoyment.

However, I must disclose that I will not be reading them anytime soon because I am a very busy individual. So, to be honest, and as to not accidentally impart you with any misleading information about my character, I will list these books for passersby with the caveat that I am not much of a reader. Anywho, ya bitch ass foos, here we go:

Contact (Carl Sagan)
Plato: Complete Works (Plato)
The Art of War (Sun Tzu)
A Brief History of Time (Stephen Hawking)
The God Delusion (Richard Dawkins)
Cover Letters for Dummies (Who cares)
Beyond Earth (Charles Wohlforth, Amanda R. Hendrjx)
Inside Jokes (Daniel Dennett)
The New Jim Crow (Michele Alexander)
All You Need to Know About the Music Business (Donald S. Passman)
Two Treatises of Government (John Locke)
The Concept of Anxiety (Soren Kierkegaard)
Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolution (Neil deGrasse Tyson)
Still the Mind (Alan Watts)
The Alchemist (Paulo Coelho)
Free Will (Sam Harris)
On Liberty (John Stuart Mill)
Being and Nothingness (Jean-Paul Sartre)
National Geographic Traveler: Arizona (Who cares)
The Doors of Perception (Aldous Huxley)
Mozart's Brain and the Fighter Pilot: Unleashing Your Brain's Potential (Richard Restak)
The Future of the Mind (Michio Kaku)
Envelope Poems (Emily Dickinson)
The Hobbit (J.R.R. Tolkien)
House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielewski)
How Computers Work (Ronald White)
Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++ (Bjarne Stroustrup)
The C++ Programming Language (Bjarne Stroustrup)
Absolute Swamp Thing Vol. 1 (Alan Moore)
The Holy Bible (Christianity is bullshit)

Yes, I appear to be quite the cultured individual. Let me iterate once again that I have not read most of these books. In fact, I have only read three of them. I will not let you know which three, though. Okay. Thank you for reading. Have a nice day bitch.

...no... we're supposed to realize Buzz is full of shit.

I'm not so sure about that. I think it's just a mistake in the movie. I think the 'salt turns the bodies to mummies' part is meant for us to realize he's full of shit, and/or dumb enough to believe what he's saying... But I think the part about the bodies fitting in a garbage can is a mishap where the writers unintentionally had a lapse in judgment about how reality works. This is usually the issue people have with suspending disbelief. People can suspend disbelief for a dragon flying around breathing fire, but say in the case of Game of Thrones (GoT spoilers ---->) they can't forgive a raven flying across Westeros and Dani flying her dragon back across Westeros in the span of a day. That is to say, people cannot forgive the laws of the universe breaking down...like time constraints contorting or laws of physics changing, etc.

So I think that was the same mistake here. I identified another mistake too when I got further into the movie. It was odd to me that the mom suddenly thought it was a good idea to hitch a ride with John Candy, but before he talked to her, she never thought to rent a vehicle and drive back home. So she a) doesn't want to drive, 2) can't drive, or d) never thought to drive until then...or she's lazy and needs to be driven by someone else.

Interesting take

I would say that most christians who do not consider the bible a one stop shop for science and spirituality would argue that the intent of the bible is to guide you to know God. Anything else is happens to touch upon is just extra.

I dont think everything in the bible is meant to be taken word for word as literally as possible. Their are a lot of parables in there

Yes, it's interesting, but not as interesting as:

I also believe it's possible that they might naturally feel a sense of regret or guilt about questioning the god they believe in, and will feel judged by this imaginary being, for betraying him. It is not a good system, or idea. Religion needs to go. It's nice to learn ABOUT religion, but not to subject young children to these ideas and preach them as if they're gospel.

This never gets talked about, so I shall expose it once again before the topic has any chance to go off course back into cliche, to fight the idiocy of religion. It's almost 2020 after all and the Internet has been public for ~30 years.

That is, they effectively smother any meaningful conversation we can have about the origins of the universe before they have a chance to gain momentum in the public sphere. When someone assumes they have the answer to something, then where is the incentive to question that supposed correct answer going to come from? Unless someone such as myself questions these people, they're not going to have many moments when they decide to question these things.

There are too many ridiculous parts to believe. Adam and Eve...Noah's Ark fitting all the animals...lol. Contradictions, such as how does a so called all loving god exist? Not enough imagination to have a universe with free will AND say, no such thing as torture or getting burned alive? Kind of a silly concept. Yeah I think we made up the idea of 'god' and it seems pretty clear that whoever wrote the Bible wasn't god and didn't know much about the earth (*points back to Noah's Ark and the clear misunderstanding of how many organisms are on the planet*).

There are many other religions. I don't have the time to learn about them. Why prioritize Christianity over them? Because I live in a place with other Christians? Okay, perhaps that is a reason to understand Christianity. And that's why I already do understand it. And that's how I've come to dismiss it..with ease.

I gave it a 4/5. I've learned to go off the audience score. Anyone who rates a movie on Rotten Tomatoes probably cares enough about movies to be a decent critic themselves. More scores means a better average...plus they take a true average for the audience. With the critics, the percentage is tallied merely by taking the percentage of tomatoes. It's like the least scientific way to get a score.

It did look sweet. Im wondering if there are plans for a post-trilogy Rey comic. I dont even read comments but I watched the recent Disney Vader series in the form of a YouTube video where someone had compiled them, and I actually really liked it.

Hey, thanks friend! Yeah, the I am inevitable. I am Iron Man. scene.

I notice stuff like that too...like little things in movies that become cliche after you see a lot of them. Like a head tilt while talking that's supposed to make something more dramatic. That gets used a lot. I thought that at the end of Frozen 2 Elsa was gonna do something cliche while she was riding the horse, but she just kina smiled and looked out ahead so that didn't bother me. Sometimes they do those head tilts or things to express poeticism or synchronicity of an event and it's like the actor just makes it too cringey. Idk if you saw the end of Glass, but there was something like that in that movie's ending.

A lot of the time I will notice mannerisms and facial movements that I've seen in older actors. The black actor in The Boys (not A-Train) had a few Denzel moments in his acting. And then I notice it in people too and it kinda bothers me...especially niche subcultures like hip hop culture / black people. I guess I notice this stuff because I'm an aspiring artist of sorts and aspire to be creative or different. Not necessarily trying to fit in and copy people.

What a weird ass movie.

Haha that's a good point. Well, I can't remember how she responded exactly. I suppose if I'm trying to defend the movie like my inner fanboy wants to right now, I would say maybe it was some samurai type shit. They just defeated the dark side and she's aware of Jedi disappearing. Maybe defeating the dark side outweighs Kylo dying multiple times over. Also, it's not like they were in a relationship. They had a confusing bond and teamed up for a few minutes. Then she kissed him and he died. He was the bad guy in the other two movies. How exactly should she respond to him dying?

She said something like, 'I have all of the Jedi in me / with me.' And then she got a second light saber and made an X with it and killed him. So to me, what this means is like...it represents fighting evil with a newly gained weapon...and combining it with your other strength. Then at the end, she had a new light saber. So it was like the message was about creativity. It was about combining something with something else to make something new. Idk...if that was what they were going for...but that resonates with me right now.

MK Tour is worse though. They dont even have multiplayer up yet so its kind of sad. The only point to better gear is getting more points. So you get a higher score because you played more, not because youre better. The better gear does not make your kart faster or have better controls, etc.

It would just be a lot more reasonable to spend money on something more engaging and deep. But tbh, I have spent money on Pokemon GO. Probably $100. I feel there is justification for this though, because its kind of in its own territory and gets you to meet people irl. And theres hope for possible VR battles n stuff in the relatively near future.

Well, imo people need mushrooms desperately, they just don't know it. Programmers take shrooms nowadays don't they? I think microdosing them is part of the culture now to help code more efficiently/creatively. If I'm an artist, or working on a piece of art (Pokemon Sword), and I'm knowledgeable, and want to help change the world for the better, then one appropriate thing to do is to help remove the sigma from psychedelic mushrooms as they are beneficial for fighting depression, and are used for hugely profound experiences.
