like i mean before the tv was invented, do you think everyone was capable of coming up with that invention, at that time? Have heard varying opinions on this. If not all do you at least think most of the population could?

Of course everyone is capable of inventing - sometimes a simple person comes up with a simple solution to something that no one else thinks of because they overthink it.

That doesn't mean they *will*.

In the case of the television, I think a lot of people could have had a vision for such a device but they wouldn't have been able to "invent" it in the sense of creating a functioning schematic and producing a prototype and making it work, because that took a level of scientific knowledge that wasn't necessarily easily accessible back in the day.

I think even stupid people are capable of great ideas.

Some people have the enginuity but lack the motivation.

Some people have the means but lack the inspiration.

It really boils down to having the right stuff to bring something into existence starting from an idea.

No, I think there's a pretty small number of people who could invent something as complex as a tv.

For simpler stuff, sure.

Like Wii_Shaker said.

Person 1 may have a great idea, but lack the knowledge to make it happen. Person 2 may have knowledge on several things, but never thought of putting them together for what Person 1 wants. It's when they meet on the bus and start taking that the path to an actual invention starts.

All primitive cultures have invented different tools to hunt and defend themselves with. Many of these tools effectively do their job but will vary depending on the needs of that culture.

I think that retains as societies change, grew and develop their own identities.

For example in the UK it is not uncommon to find an electric kettle because of how much tea everyone drinks. However in the states, coffee machines are common and our society basically runs on coffee.

Also, even if one person is not capable of inventing something themselves , another person could see the need the first person has and is inspired to invent either a device or technique.

Necessity breeds invention.

Who knows the story to that specific invention, but I imagine a lot of people invent things that they already have a huge interest in. They've already spent time thinking about that area of knowledge involving that invention, and then they have the idea. Then perhaps they need to learn more to manifest the invention, but once they have the idea, they're even more driven to learn than before. I find it less likely that someone would be completely detached from the field of knowledge required for an invention, and then learn EVERYTHING more or less and finally making it a reality after like a decade or something.

Most people living today could not build a tv if you gave them the supplies to do so tbh. You think they would've done it before one had even been made? Lol

it's lack of mechanical skill. i'm screwed from the start if my computer ever breaks down despite parts being like lego's (you put them in the slots which are compatible) to make em work.
