My first thought was Splatoon. But my actual thought is Pokemon, because I find it dumb how its contest strength does not correlate with the popularity of its individual games (and in fact the most popular games are the weakest ones)

The second match shouldn't be close for me but it is. Bitbop is more fitting of my "style" and should be my expected vote, but I don't really like the song itself. I would probably like other songs from this game if they sound similar to this one. It's just the main part at like 1:03 and a few other spots that bothers me. Bad End has a cool intro and an interesting first half. It kind of loses me in the second half, but then the outro does the thing from the intro again and reminds me why I liked it 2 minutes ago. The vocals don't bother me here.

Skin changing isn't new. Even as far back as 2004 they had site settings to choose between the "new" white style with Verdana font and the "classic" blue and purple tables with Arial.

I think universal profiles are an underappreciated modern feature (being able to view a user's profile just by putting their name in the URL). Before that, you could only see profiles when they were linked from an active post, otherwise there's no way to see them.

You know what else is underrated? The hover menu on your username in topics to get to your active posts lists (or the other links but they're not important). I used the hover constantly and I even try to use it on other sites before I remember that they don't have it.

An Endless Desert

I'm not gonna post my whole giant wall of text that I've been thinking in my head all day, but I had a crazy experience relistening to Final Destination last night. My brain just cleared itself out or something and it was like I was hearing that song purely as standard music, without any mental associations to the video game as I know it. It sounded way different and I heard so much stuff that I never noticed before. Even listening to it again now it sounds like the same old video game song that I'm used to, I can't replicate the way I heard it before. This match is one of the closest in this contest for me. An Endless Desert is cool and unique and in fact already sounds like a non-video game song to me (of course I could say that about a lot of songs from games that I've never heard of, which this contest introduces me to). I'm giving the vote to Desert here because it's something that I'm more likely to listen to standalone in the future. I've played a lot of SSB in the past and I'm not just gonna decide to listen to FD out of the blue (at least not if I can't recapture that moment from last night).

Second match is possibly the most one-sided in the contest. Deoxyribose is exciting, energetic, and dark all at the same time, a great mix of elements that I enjoy. And it's facing one of the most stereotypical, almost quintessential songs from my least favorite series of all time.

I actually like the color scheme of Cotton Candy (literally the combination of colors used) but I don't like the default layout so I don't have an opportunity to use it. I use the RetroClassic theme which is basically designed with the traditional blue colors in mind.

GameFAQs only lets you highlight one group (just friends) and has a limited color selection. This script lets you make an infinite number of different groups with a full color selection, and you can even use it to highlight words in topic titles instead of users.

Match 1 was surprisingly close... At first I was gonna vote for Apostle's Maraud because it was better than I remembered from round 1. Then I saw what it was up again and was gonna vote for Colress for being one of the few redeeming modern Pokemon songs. Then I went back and realized that Apostle only dips in quality in the last minute (which was fresh in my mind) but the rest of it is more varied and interesting. So it's more music for longer and I need to post my vote before I change my mind again.

Nice thing about round 2 is that I've already formed a baseline opinion of the songs in round 1 so I don't have to think about them as much on days when I'm rushing.

Match 2 reminds me of the ToC from yesterday. Scourge is the Universe is from a game whose music I've consistently liked, but this is the weakest entrant from it in this contest. Tonitrus is lyrics that I don't like over decent instrumentals.

I don't think that I should actually like Luna Ascension. I mean it's almost like a really, really bad instance of several things that I would otherwise like, but at the very bottom of that tier. So it's kind of above other songs by default, but there are some songs that I like less than this that I would like... more than this? Hey, as nonsensical as that sounds, at least I can rest easy that there have been worse statements in a VGMC topic. New World Order starts off good and then gets ruined by unfitting vocals.

Did you mean what you typed? I would think that you would have 10 points to distribute between the chosen games. So, one game would get all ten points, two games would each get five points, five games would get two each, and ten games would each get one point.

I think it's this way to encourage you to use all your nominations, otherwise if you only come here to vote for 1 thing, you can still do it but your vote doesn't count as much.
