They had the Splatoon 3 direct this morning, and they played the new song that plays in the hub area during Splatfests. I've had it in my head mostly all day, at least to the extent that you can have a song that you barely know, which is not very well. There was one part that I kept remembering wrong in my head until I relistened to the video each time. It took me until doing my votes here just now to realize that the part that I was mistakenly thinking of was actually from DESIRE. The part at 0:31 would be able to fit perfectly into two different sections of Anarchy Rainbow (either the intro or the main chorus).

The code is small enough that someone could have reasonably pressed those buttons accidentally at the right time. At least the fighter selection screen. The 2P control code is less likely since it would require a second accidental timing in the right spot after already doing the first one.

Pokemon Pinball should be at 4 since one of the noms was a double.

Dennis the Menace has the problem of there being two unrelated comic strips called "Dennis the Menace" about a troublemaking kid which each debuted the very same week on two separate continents. Neither is particularly well-known in the opposite place.

...I also did not know about this at all. So I'd have no idea how popular the UK version is. Which actually means that I'm probably answering about a different comic than the post that I was responding to.

I don't think that there's any shadow of a doubt that Snoopy beats Garfield on this. You're most likely falling for the recent (5-10 years) trend of the modern internet generation turning Garfield into a meme, because I can't think of any other reason why you'd be overrating him so much.

Yeah, but he's still "just some guy", and in his many famous incarnations he has been played by different actors and drawn in various different ways, even if they all share a theme and style. He's not literally one person (even though he did practically invent the stereotype of what a "detective" looks like).

That sounds like most people's normal playthrough.

Sherlock Holmes and Dracula both suffer if using "picture recognition" strictly, but would beat some of the characters listed otherwise. (King Arthur is not on their level.)

That's been gone for quite a while. Pretty much all of the original classes got revamped in 2012-2014.

If you tell old players that Barbarian now has a skill that can remove incapacitation and skip a turn from itself (usable even while incapacitated), I wonder if they react the same way that old Pokemon TCG players react when you tell them that modern cards have 200+ HP and frequently do 150+ damage per attack.

I'm full in on Rainbow Road until the stuffer decides to single it out.

I think my answer is actually Super Mario Maker (Wii U). Due to a combination of circumstances leading to its success, it had a certain atmosphere and community style that I don't think can ever be replicated again (even its sequel SMM2 did not feel this particular way that I'm describing, due the the fact that it was coming up from prior knowledge of SMM1). Plus differences in physics and objects between the two games (spikes are normal obstacles in 1 but have insanely bloated hitboxes in 2, eliminating most of their former usages).

I had over 1100 hours in SMM1, but despite strong arguments that SMM2 is a better video game (which I even agree with), I only managed around 550 hours and at least part of that was the missing spark.

Edit: I classify this game as "replaced" because Miiverse is closed (can't comment on courses) and they removed the ability to upload courses. The eventual closure of playing online completely is inevitable.

Damn, this is a tough day all around, especially match 3. I voted for all 6 of these songs in the first round.

Jumping 10 spaces isn't a big deal anymore since there are now like fifty billion different ways to move forward. It's fine.

I have never in my life gone through Seafoam Islands to get from Fuchsia City to Cinnabar Island. (In fact I don't think I've ever traversed the islands any farther than necessary to reach Articuno) As a kid it shocked me to learn that this was supposedly the "intended" route to reach Cinnabar because there's no reason to do it. Seafoam Islands are promoted as this big optional area so the entire route is also optional.

I don't think that people literally coming up to your doorstep to beg for money is the main concern.

I just realized that I voted against all 6 of today's songs in round 1.

Would there have been an audience for a traditional styled Popeye movie in 2013? I feel like Popeye is one of the stereotypical "old cartoons" that most people know about as being a thing from before their time, but I don't know if they would be willing to watch a straight-played, full length movie in the current century.

Not that what we got in exchange was any better, but still.
