I have no problem with a lawyer doing their utmost for a client. There are ruthless, politically-driven prosecutors, corrupt police officers, and many innocent people rotting in prison. Yet somehow we want defence lawyers to half-arse their job because they reckon their client is guilty?This always bugs me. Like, I see people saying they are having ChatGPT teach them new things. If you don't already know about the thing, you won't spot the errors and will assimilate false information. Summarizing long documents is also problematic for the same reason. If you haven't read the document, how many of the mistakes will you catch? Helping you rewrite a paragraph or two makes sense, or maybe help with form letters, but having it write papers for you is a terrible idea from a learning and personal growth standpoint.

Certain types of people want an explanation or for things to make sense, but you're often not going to get that. I feel your pain because I am such a person. The "it's not me it's you" thing almost always means it's you and the person is moving on diplomatically (or trying to), no matter what the context is.

The idea seems to be that police would like to have AI go through old body cam footage looking for crime. I personally don't like this at all. The ideal use of body cam footage is to provide transparency for both cops and the public during interactions. Saving all that footage and then later going on a fishing expedition to find more crime using error-prone technology seems to once again shift the balance of power back in favor of police, and in my view they already have too much power.
