IIRC he was one of the first to backtrack (after getting a call from Trump personally to drop it) back when the Epstein Files started blowing up again but I could be mixing up my far-right influencers. Though he may have backtracked the backtrack afterwards when his viewers weren't having it. I know at least one fell into that case.

KH is weird for me in that once I played KH2 I simply couldn't go back to KH1's gameplay.

I mean, maybe I could now with enough time from it all but KH2 just blew it away in every regard for me. (also i'm a sucker for all the nonsense in 2 as well)

Social media (addiction) is indeed a large driver of way a lot of things are uniquely so bad right now but even if you waved a magic wand and stopped the Casual Revolution of 2007 things would still be shit because of Reagan's presidency. Those graphs that show how wage growth and productivity (and actually a whole lot of other things economic and not) all of a sudden wildly diverge after 1980 despite having been basically a single line all the decades before aren't coincidences. Reagan and his policies are the prime driver and origin point of the massive (and ever increasing) wealth inequality in society and this was decades before social media was a thing. I'm not sure I'd say Reagan's policies caused the social media shit down the road (although maybe you could make a case that all the deregulation culture set the stage) because it's not like "out-of-touch number must go up!!!" shit came into existence with him. Though he did finally manage to undo the round of regulation we put up after the last time that shit got out of hand (Great Depression) and that ethos has continued on strong ever since. That part is just a "feature" of unregulated capitalism.

We just happen to live in the wonderful era where we get to suffer through both at the same time.

I'm still of the opinion that Trump is uniquely capable of holding together the MAGA coalition. I'm not saying it completely splinters and dissolves once he's gone but I don't think Vance, or anyone really, can hold it together quite like Trump does.

The thing about MAGA is that it is composed of different wings of the far right that would normally be in opposition with one another (techbros like Thiel v Project 2025/Evangelicals, etc.) They're united by having a common enemy in "the libs" sure but Trump is like a unicorn for them in keeping it from being all in-fighting between them because he's like the perfect mix of a corrupt, senile, uninterested empty suit. There's a kind of harmony between them because they all know that Trump is so vapid that he doesn't care and has no interest in what he's doing/signing. The only "power" Trump is interested in is basically "how he looks on TV" rather than the actual power of the presidency and federal government that basically everyone else gets into politics for. So they can take turns getting their priorities advanced through him while he plays TV President and try to stay clear of their friction points (which are many) because the only real fear they have is Trump kicking them out of the inner circle and if their court intrigue knife fighting gets bad enough it's making the news Trump might, in a mercurial tantrum, throw them out for ruining his dictator RP.

I don't know who can really fill that particular role after Trump. It's easy enough to say "well just find someone else who's happy enough to be POTUS in name and just let the powers behind the scenes drive their policies" but Trump's cult is unique to him and honestly if you're someone high enough in national politics to be in the POTUS conversation you're probably power-hungry and ambitious enough that you're not going to be satisfied with that arrangement once you actually have the office.

Like Vance... I agree he's a puppet of Thiel but if he "takes sides" in the far-right factions then the others are going to retaliate and try to put in one that will side more strongly with the Evangelical Theocracy project, and even if he retains much of the overall GOP support, I think he loses some of it and that could be what matters. I guess if Trump were to die in office there might be a short-term rally around Vance to show that "MAGA is still as unified as ever" but I think the in-fighting would go up several notches and never come down.

Generally the first option. I'm sure I've done 2 and 3 in the past but I can't recall when recently. Not sure I've dropped something over difficulty though. Maybe when I was much younger but also I was really stubborn then lol so I still doubt it.
