I'd believe that he has little on-hand cash, but I don't believe that he couldn't do the normal rich person thing of just getting an essentially no-interest massive loan at any time. It's not impossible he's being stupidly frugal, but feels like he's just roleplaying his 'wholesome' character.

It's fun for what it is, but it's definitely not well written at all. There are so many illogical things done for rule of cool. The funniest thing is the anime is actually an improvement on the web comic because they at least try to have the side characters more active in the background. Not sure how it is compared to the web novel. The quality drops off after the point where the anime is at, so I'm curious if they'll be able to do anything to improve it. The ending is trash, so I don't think they'll be able to do anything to salvage that.

Do you want to try again, or would you rather go back in the well and quit embarrassing yourself?
That's just a poor deflection. If you want to act like broadness matters, Rowling is a mass media empire involving thousands of other people as well.

Already posted a few pages back, but would love an actual answer. Usually, the deflection goes to "it's fine if it's a necessary purchase" but what about non-essential industries with their own host of exploitation issues? When people are making the arguments "conspumption = direct harm," then the comparision is absolutely direct and valid. There is no difference between "you support harm towards trans people if you support Rowling" and "you support the exploitation of women if you support Hollywood."

So I misread what you were saying. That's my bad.

That being said anyone and everyone who is knowingly giving Rowling money is giving money to someone who wants trans people killed.

I won't go so far to claim anyone who still consumed that product is a transphobe, but man it's really hard to claim you give a shit about trans people while giving your money to Rowling.
Have you ever watched a Hollywood movie? Have you ever consumed pornography? Have you ever bought an unnecessary mass-produced item? You can make similar grand moral statements about all of those, and none of them are necessary purchases. Do you avoid all that too, or have you just decided this one particular bigoted creator is the end-all-be-all of boycotts?

The problem is how broad do you want to take this argument? You can make the same argument about pretty much all Hollywood productions due to how scummy the industry is. You can make the same argument about nearly all major businesses. That's why it's so silly. Making arguments for avoiding her content, for pirating her content, for donating to causes that counter her opinions, are all good statements. Trying to browbeat anyone who consumes her content is ultimately just poor messaging at best, and smarmy self-felation at worst.

why is it stupid?
Because mass-utilized AI voices is inevitable. I don't think it's anywhere near good enough now, but it will definitely be in the future. If voice acting will die out due to that, whatever they do now isn't going to save it. What needs protection now is the rights to their voices, and we definitely need legislation requiring the publication of any and all training data used on a particular model to weed out unauthorized usage.

Yeah, I had seen everything up until then, but couldnt really care to keep invested with all the TV shows, and the lack of a cohesive background narrative. They should have started strong with Kang by having him defeat a major character in their movie completely, and setup a cliffhanger for others. Introducing him in a TV show and then having his first movie appearance have him defeated by a B-tier character makes it hard to hype. Even with the actors controversy, they couldve recast him if his introduction was strong enough.

You realise that theses two statements contract each other, right? The vast majority of people live in densely populated areas, that's a big part of why they are so densely populated. Furthermore the vast majority of miles traveled, in the US are locally, followed by regionally. If the US had good quality local public transport and shit national public transport, it would still be a giant improvement over what they actually had.
Most of that is going to be local to the major cities, which I'd agree certainly can be improved. In places where it can take you 15 minutes just to get from your house to the main road, there's not a ton of incentive to have a particularly robust bus system. In places where towns are 30 minutes apart, there's not going to be much incentive to have robust transportation systems between towns. There's obviously big money interests blocking the development of public transit, but it's also simply not something that's going to be innately desired in large swathes of the country.

Within some cities it can be good, but overall it's awful. There is absolutely no reason for our passenger rail service to be as dreadful as it is.

There can definitely be local improvement in densely populated areas, but much of the country is way too sparse for it to be particularly helpful.
