Thunderful Group is once again back in the news today as it has been reported that the studio is selling Pumpkin Jack publisher Headup at a fraction of what it was bought for back in 2021.

Word of this sale comes to us from Gamesindustry.biz which reports that Thunderful has sold the publisher for 500,000 quite the drop from the 11 million it spent to acquire the company just three years ago.

The studio has been (re)purchased by its founder and CEO Dieter Schoeller via Microcuts Holding. Incidentally, Schoeller is the vice president of production at Thunderful. Talk about keeping your friends close, eh?

The deal has now been completed between Headup and Thunderful, though it is still dependent on the transfer of Studio Fizbin to Thunderful (acquired via Headup last year), the rewriting of three IP-related contracts and shareholder approval before it is fully finalised.

While Headup will reclaim its back catalogue of games as well as those currently in development, the sale agreement states that Thunderful is still to receive a share of up to 300k on an as-yet-unannounced title from the studios.

All of this comes as a part of Thunderful's restructuring program which was announced in January of this year and is set to affect 20% of its workforce.

Some of the best independent video games developers are coming together on the Triple-i Initiative, a new digital showcase. It will air on April 10 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM in the UK / 7 PM in Europe.

The showcase will feature over 30 games from studios and publishers who worked on the likes of Darkest Dungeon, Spiritfarer, V Rising, and Risk of Rain 2. The event will be a no-nonsense digital showcase featuring blockbuster indie titles, all streamed in under one hour to respect players and studios time. Expect announcements from Mega Crit, Red Hook Studios, and Evil Empire, and more.

Evil Empire, the company behind the last five years of Dead Cells content, was originally behind the event. However, it is now a collaborative effort with the support from indies such as Re-Logic, creators of Terraria and Mega Crit, creators of Slay the Spire.

Evil Empire marketing director Brenger Dupr said: We felt a need for a showcase that highlights wildly different indie games but that have one thing in common; they resonate with millions of players around the world. Since using letters seems to be the trend in the industry, we figured that adding a couple of is to indie was a fair way to describe this new format. Also, triple-i just sounds cool.

Evil Empire CEO Benjamin Laulan added: The goal is to have a straight-to-the-point show packed with announcements as a collective of studios, to speak directly to players, the people who have been directly supporting us since day 1. The show will run for about 45 minutes, featuring news by the most successful and creative folks out there. No hosting segments, no advertisements, no sponsorships, no extra fluff, just games.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) Thousands of highly toxic toads dangerous to pets are breeding in Florida.

Your pet could die in as little as 15 minutes if it bites or swallows the invasive amphibians known as bufo toads, cane toads or giant marine toads.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, cane toads were introduced into the state to control agricultural pests in sugar cane in the 1930s and 40s. Researchers believe current populations resulted from escapes and releases by importers in the 1950s and 60s.

The toads are currently found in central and south Florida, generally south of the I-4 corridor, the FWC said.

The toads release a milky toxin that sticks in pets mouths. The toxin causes pets to become frantic or disoriented, have brick-red gums, seizures and foaming at the mouth.

Jennifer Southall, a seasoned bufo toad trapper, told WBBH that the toads have alarming reproductive capabilities.

One bufo toad female can lay over 30,000 eggs at a time, she told the news station. And it takes just three days for the eggs to hatch, leading to a population explosion around the summer months.

WBBH reported that dogs in particular are vulnerable to bufo toad poisoning, which can result in severe illness or death if left untreated.

Southall said her dog accidentally bit one.

A toad had come in and he pounced on it, she recalled. He got sick, showing symptoms like vomiting and pawing at the mouth.

Pets are not the only ones at risk. Bufo toad secretions can severely irritate peoples skin and eyes.

The FWC said you can humanely kill bufo toads. Southall said you should wear gloves and eye protection if you plan on catching them.

These toads are poisonous at every stage in their life, including the eggs, she said.

If your pet comes into contact with the toxic toad, heres what you should do:

Wash toxins forward out of the mouth using a hose for 10 minutes being careful not to direct water down the throat.
Wipe gums/tongue with a dish towel to remove toxins.
Get your pet to the vet.

FWC offered the following tips to keep you and your pets safe from encounters with the deadly amphibians:

Mow and trim your yard: Keep grass short so you can spot the toads. Bring the underside of shrubs off the ground to eliminate hiding places for the toads.
Clean up: Messes attract pests. Outdoor food and water bowls for pets, brush piles and other clutter can attract toads and their prey, which attracts toads.
Watch out: Cane toads are nocturnal, so watch your pets outside at night. Dont allow your pets to nose around in bushes while on walks.

The worlds largest snake has been found dead in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest just weeks after it was discovered.

A team of scientists discovered the previously undocumented species of giant anaconda in the Amazon, during filming for National Geographics Disney+ series Pole to Pole with Will Smith.

The huge reptile, named Ana Julia, was found in the Formoso River in the rural area of Bonito in southern Brazils Mato Grosso do Sul State five weeks ago.

The 26-foot northern green anaconda weighed around 440lbs - or 31 stone - and had a head the same size as a humans.

There have been reports claiming the snake may have been shot but a Dutch researcher who helped discover the Ana Julia stressed the cause of death was still being investigated.

Professor Freek Vonk shared the news on Instagram, saying: With enormous pain in my heart I want to let you know that the mighty big green anaconda I swam with was found dead in the river this weekend.

An iron-strong animal, a survivor, one thats been swimming around Bonito for decades, the professor added.

As far as we know, she was super healthy and still in the prime of her life, and in the coming years she could have taken care of many descendants. Since there are not so many of this species of colossal giant snakes swimming around, the blow to biodiversity (and this particular species in particular) is also huge, he added.

Professor Vonk previously said he heard reports the snake was shot dead, but has since clarified that authorities have not yet found any evidence pointing towards this.

The cause of death is currently still being investigated, considering all possible options. So its also possible that she died a natural death, he said.

At the time of discovery, Professor Bryan Fry from The University of Queensland said: The size of these magnificent creatures was incredible one female anaconda we encountered measured an astounding 6.3 metres long

There are anecdotal reports from the Waorani people of other anacondas in the area measuring more than 7.5 metres long and weighing around 500 kilograms.

The new species, described in the journal Diversity, diverged from the previously known southern green anaconda about 10 million years ago, differing genetically from it by 5.5 per cent.
