There are studies showing that having the structure of things you have to do most days of the week is good for your mental health. And that people who don't retire are healthier and live longer. I think if you save up enough money, rather than just not working you should switch to a job that you like. Or keep doing it if you really like it. You could switch to part time too if you want to give yourself lots of free time but still have some structure in your life. $2 million is definitely enough that you could switch to a low paying job then retire a few decades later with no problem.
