thats why i dont get that rhetoric.

do you want the rich and powerful to be above the law? because that's all I hear, not that i should be worried, just that the rich should be above the law. If Trump goes down for using campaign funds to pay off a porn star I would absolutely expect to get in trouble for financial mishandlings as a normal person, too. But I mishandled funds in this scenario so...whats the problem?

For the most part when a genre gets huge, the bands that came before are in most cases better and more interesting than what's popular.

Screamo is a prime example of this. Saetia, Orchid, Off Minor are legendary bands that until I had heard them didn't have much interest in the genre because what was popular and being paraded around by Hot Topic didn't really interest me for the most part.

Grunge is another example in some ways. I find a band like Husker Du far more interesting than Nirvana but without Husker Du who knows if Nirvana would have come around or what they'd sound like

This is a more important fight in several ways.

the worst part about buying a car is that if you don't haggle, you're gonna get hosed. The dealership expects people to haggle. The hagglers think they're getting some sort of huge deal, when the dealership is still coming out ahead, so this just makes it shittier for everybody else just trying to buy a car.

I was at a local video game store the other day and I asked the guy if he had a USB rock band guitar. He did, and he wanted $100 for it. Now, first thing I did when i left is went to ebay and 50-75+ shipping is what they seem to be going for. But the man expects the haggle. Maybe I could have gotten it for 50 or 75 if I tried, but fuck that, he gets no sale.

I actually am, but it's for a seasonal position that only extends until september. I do not have any permanent part time or full time spots available.

To me that's the main thing I like about it. Since it isn't corporate, I don't have to worry about any of that shit for the most part. I can actually do a good job because I want to and like to, not because some faceless higher up will yell at me for not getting enough credit card applications. The union part of it a good for several reasons, the main being job security if somebody decided to pull some bullshit over on me.

Not just union, but a government job. So there is no real corporate. No credit cards to push. No rewards system. A lot of the bullshit in corporate retail doesn't exist where I work and it's great. I don't even have sales metrics I have to hit, individually or as a store either.

Ive been in retail, not as a manager, but when you are constantly running around because a quadrillion dollar megacorp chooses to staff you the bare minimum all day. It wasn't always like that, but at some point in my 7 years working for megacorp it became that way. Skeleton crews all around. That's a corporate decision. Do you think the store manager actually wants people to wait in line all day?

I am now the General Manager of a liquor store which I like a LOT better, but it's a gov't job(control state) and I am in a union. THAT'S what it takes, I guess, for retail to not suck completely. But I am happy.

I have no advice, but hopefully some day you do find a job that makes you happy.

I forgot what version of windows I even had until a couple of weeks ago, because it doesn't annoy me much and mostly functions as just an OS.

It's W10, but the real reason for this was that a couple of years ago BTB created a program that would just get rid of all the shit, so I used that and It mostly functions as I'd like. So when people say modern Windows is shit, I get confused but then I remember I don't even know the depths of how bad it is because I haven't seen it for a while.

I don't see what the benefit to not having a PIN on a credit card is.
TopicA question about how Americans tip in restaurants

No, we don't actually and i find it maddening because it seems like such a small step to take to prevent heaps of problems.

credit cards have no PIN, and I don't know if you can even set one up. There is a large push for 2FA phone payments and other ways to pay so you don't carry credit cards around.

Debit cards(bank cards) do have a PIN, which would be needed at an ATM to do anything, but when purchasing items at a store you can bypass that entirely in a lot of cases, need no PIN. It actually makes no sense.

if I find a debit card on the ground and want to be shady, I can take it, go into a department store, buy $50 worth of stuff and when the POS reader asks for the PIN you can usually bypass it. It's pretty asinine.

what is America DOING.

I think yall would be amazed how easily its handled in Canada.

Some places have a POS system at the table or other places you pay in different ways, but your average sit down restaurant, if you pay with card, the waiter takes it to their POS system. I get the security risks. I have never had a problem with it though. That doesn't mean problems couldn't happen, but it would be a really easy way to get caught.

The main reason for that is how every area in every state has different taxes. In my state medicine, clothing, water and nonprepared foods are not taxed at all. In other places some or even all of those are taxed. But my county has a 7% sales tax whereas most are 6%. I've seen 10.5% in one area in another state. Some states have no sales tax whatsoever.

It would make sense for a locally owned business or small chain to factor it in, but for companies that operate within multiple tax rates(like a national chain like wal-mart) It makes sense because of the amount of work it would take to make sure everything is accurate since the types of items that are taxed vary from state to state and within the tax rates vary from county to county

You go to a restaurant.

Prices are on the menu, but they are just the price for that item. they don't typically include sales tax, tip, or anything.

you get your food, and eat it. The waiter brings the check to your table. The check has the cost of food + taxes on it, with a total. You either pay cash or card. If you pay cash, you get change, and you can leave a tip if you wish. If you pay card, the waiter takes the card to their POS system and runs it through, then you get another receipt you can add a tip to, if you want, and you sign.

It may not be the most intuitive system, but it is what it is.

Just to point out, tipping is optional in the US. I tip, and big, because I like to do so. But if you don't want to tip, don't. Nobody is gonna force ya.

I enjoy hiking well enough but I am not a true outdoorsy person.

I've done those hikes where you leave at 4AM to drive 2 hours to get somewhere before it gets disgustingly crowded and while the whole ordeal is neat because of the grandiose scale, I live right next to a huge county park, such as that the trails directly connect to the end of my dead end street, so I can hike on demand, whenever I want on 22 small trails.

So I am very fortunate that I have that literally right in my back yard, because for me, I wouldn't drive to do it, but since I can do it all on foot, I walk semi regularly back there, maybe a couple times a month in good weather.

Like, people were shorting gamestop because it didn't appear to have much value. People caught wind of this and people bought a bunch of gamestop stock, inflating the value. But who actually cares about gamestop? I only ask because whatever the trading price of gme stock is, it's more divorced from the reality of the business itself than most stocks.

I can't say for the ultra premium invite only rich person cards, but any decent card with a fee has ways to easily make more cash back than the annual fee. Chase Sapphire Reserve has an annual $50 hotel credit, so if you use that you only need to make back $45 in rewards(annual fee is $95), which isn't terribly difficult with normal spending with the rewards they give back.

It's always a balance between the fee vs you actually making back more in rewards. If you don't feel you can, it would be idiotic to get a card with an annual fee. If you can get more back because the rewards categories are something that interest you, you'd be letting free money walk.

Though with that said all of thee Fandom decisions are whack and killing the site, so this doesn't mean I'd want them to do it if I could pick, because of what that does spell long term.

edit: and yes, the overarching "definition" of hornyposting to include basic shit like kissing your girlfriend is also weak.

The body isn't saying that, unless I missed it.

"However, these taxes have been significantly reduced in recent yearsthe top corporate tax rate in the U.S. was reduced from 35 percent to 21 percent in 2018, and the estate tax now generates only a quarter of the tax revenues it raised in the 1970s, the Times noted."

"In the 1960s, the 400 richest Americans paid more than half of their income in taxes, according to the Times. By 2018, America's wealthiest individuals paid just 23 percent of their income in taxes. Meanwhile, the bottom half of income earners paid 24 percent of their income in taxes."

The article is saying the percentage that the wealthy pay is down. Of course, their overall dollar amount is still going to be high, but we aren't talking about that. Nor is the article.
