The fact that these are all Batman characters (and you had to list a bunch of characters in the Superman universe) should tell you something.

Marvel doesn't have that problem. Sure, a lot of the characters cross over from time to time, but most of them started and continue to be popular as their own character with their own rogues gallery.

Even if 90% of them are Stan Lee creations.

This was like 6 years ago so this might have changed, but the main reason is that it organizes chats like Reddit. Makes it very hard to search things and respond in group chats. Webex is a little like that, but the search function more than makes up for it. Like I have no problem finding conversations I had with people back in 2019 using Webex. Just finding stuff I talked about with someone a week ago in Teams is such a pain in the ass.

That is on top of it being a Microsoft Office product, and therefore randomly crashing and requiring a computer restart every few days.

My company uses Webex since they have a deal with Cisco, but if we didn't, it would probably be Zoom.

Teams is shit though, HATE using Teams. So glad the company I was on at the time folded and I was getting laid off just as they started using Teams.

Yea, I had no concept of time back then so I have no clue.

It was probably like 15-20 minutes, although I remember having kickball tournaments which probably extended it a bit.

I hate super heroes and DC killed off Vertigo so Marvel by default.

Plus they have Daredevil, Punisher, Elektra, and Black Widow (They are street level heroes, they have no "super powers").

I use YouTube more, but Wikipedia is vastly more important. There are so many alternatives to YouTube today, but nothing could replace Wikipedia.

Kind of surprised with subscription services and recycling being all the rage, that we haven't seen the return of "milk men". Or I guess "milk people" to be more politically correct:

• Milk delivered to your door
• No plastic, since everything comes in glass containers
• Reusable, since you have to return your used glass containers to get more milk
• Only subscribe for how much you use in a week

I've been dampened down on my fear of AI. It has damaged artistic work, but mostly in the corporate environment of graphic design where there was little respect for art in the first place. Otherwise it's a glorified autocorrect and has no idea how to reflect on what it's saying, so it's fundamentally unable to stop hallucinating.

Improvements have grown exponentially for a while, but now see diminishing returns as corporations try to compensate with that fundamental flaw by just throwing more gpus at the problem. Meanwhile, I can run a local LLM on my midrange hardware that's 80% as passable as chatgpt.

Today's AI hasn't really advanced in the last 15 years. The only thing that actually changed was that it was used for more widely known purposes, and the data they have been using to train it.

I was working with an application that used a homegrown version of chatgpt's learning algorithm all the way back in 2008, which was built on top of an already 5 year old version of the engine. And that was running on everyone's arch nemesis: Java *cue dramatic surprise music*

Of course Angry Birds is one of the first on there. Rovio trying desperate to keep a game that hasn't been popular in 15 years relevant.

I'll do digital if it is a hard to find/ridiculously expensive book for the physical version, otherwise I pretty much always go with physical. I even have a tablet specifically for digital and rarely use it.

LOL, I read Preacher 3 times: Once when it was individual issues, once when it came out as trade paperbacks, and once as the giant 3 book Absolute edition. The Absolute was by far my favorite to read and looks awesome on the shelf. I low key love Omnibuses, but the collector in me feels like they are cheating so I have to have the issues as well.

Nope definitely not. Granted, I don't order sodas from fast food places because I'm not 400 lbs. Definitely see other people's drinks loaded with ice though. Don't know what fast food places you're going where they don't do that or why you think there would be a distinction between a regular restaurant and a fast food place in terms of making money screwing people over on drinks. That's standard restaurant business practice no matter if it's fast casual, fast food, etc.

Only place where that may not apply is an actual really nice restaurant because they're making their money on the 130 dollar steak dinner plate instead of the couple extra bucks on soda cups filled 80% with ice

1) A lot of places have you fill your own cup, so you decide how much ice is in there.
2) Even if they don't, you can say "no ice" or "a little ice" and they will comply. The profit margins on drinks are insane, they aren't going to argue about giving you 9 oz. vs. 16 oz. That is like a difference of a penny to them.

Denny's is about the only one that is a timeless joke about how bad they are.

This is primarily a problem that exists in the US. English is considered one of the business languages, so most people are more likely to know English than vice versa. But even worse, is people that act this way are generally rude first and the language barrier isn't the issue. My job has me working globally with people, and none of us would ever speak to each other via stuffing a phone in someone's face.

So if a deaf person is trying to communicate with you, do you just...ignore them?

Having communicated with a bunch of people who have a hard time with English or, in the case of deaf people, can't actually speak it even though they understand it, you are probably missing the hundreds of other times where these people spent a bunch of time trying to communicate through normal means, and it ended in frustration for both parties. Then, they found out if they just open their phone and show the order that most of the time, it works. So the 1% of people who hate when someone does this far outweighs the 99% of times it gets them on their way quickly.

Don't like dealing with it, then don't offer your services through those companies. Lots of places do that already.

That's because you are the foreign customer in those cases, not the employee.
Try applying for a job in a foreign country that wants you to know the native language to some capacity (See: almost all of them outside of very, very smalls election of jobs), but be sure to tell them, "I can't speak it much at all, but I can use Google Translate."

Job listings will obviously list the languages you should know and/or be fluent in before applying. Yes, a translate app is no replacement for actually learning a language, but if I am in a situation where I need to understand someone who doesn't speak the same language as me it is an easy and effective alternative.

This is probably the type of guy who when a deaf person tries to communicate with them through text they yell "STOP BEING DEAF!!!"

Like, geez, if you need to communicate with them for some reason just download a translate app. That is what I do when I travel someplace where I don't know the language.

HOA's are a foreign concept in my area because property taxes pay for pretty much everything (as they should). That said, property taxes are rather high compared to most places. For example, a $250K house would have $7K/year in property taxes. But, again, no HOAs because the town takes care of all that.

The nearby city doesn't get involved at all.

I have a grandfather left, he turns 98 next week. His goal is to live to 100 and barring some kind of tragedy I am pretty sure he will do it. He doesn't even need any kind of cane or walker.

If you have PTO and don't use it then that to me is really dumb. Use all your PTO or else you're working for free... Unless you work for a company that will pay you extra for PTO you don't use which is pretty rare

Actually the co worker that I manage that's annoying as shit is always trying to brag to everyone about how he doesn't use his PTO like it shows he's better. The thing is he does the least work of anyone. He just has no life outside of work and he probably is scared we'll realize how useless he is if he stays gone for any length of time. Little does he know everyone already realizes it

I have unlimited PTO at my job, so you can absolutely use too much PTO.

That said, I also have a boss that reminds us every other week we have unlimited PTO and should be taking more time off.

Exactly! I don't agree with a lot of what he does videos on (his takes on electric appliances assumes electricity and natural gas have the same price, which isn't the case. Natural gas is 1/3 cheaper then electric in my area due to easy availability) but he is spot-on there.

I still use the pods for laundry, but for the dish washer, I use the boxed powder. For that, you definitely should use less than what is in the pods because the pods assume you are basically washing your dishes with water from the dead sea and overcompensate for that. In most cases, you only need to fill your machine to around the halfway mark. Most of the "dish washing" is done with water pressure, the soap just a surfactant to losten the dried-on stuff.

You just described it perfectly: Those first board are populated with people who have lives outside of GameFAQs while the others are populated by people with nothing better to do than to post on a dying site. It is less about them loosing money by doing it and more about them doing it to try gain an "audience" that probably doesn't give a shit about them in the first place. Most companies that are "woke" really don't believe what they are saying, and if you think they do...oh boy...

I was too lazy to go into detail, but the idea was to throw a bit of everything into the melting pot. Doom's "teleportation gone wrong" plot just strikes me as a good point to get the ball rolling, as opposed to other narratives where they're already here or on the verge of breaking through on their own.

I think the problem is that Doom takes place on Mars' moons, and the demons are all supposedly from hell. But then again, a lot of demon slaying plots are similar anyways. Those few points are uniquely Doom though.

Still, there's no reason they can't start that cascade soon enough to save employees the commute. For that matter, you don't even really need that chain of command because corporate could easily just automate sending out a mass text to all affected employees once there was no more opportunity for sabotage. That would likely leave them scrambling to contact their managers as needed until they went far enough up the chain to get an authoritative answer, but at least they'd save a commute.

I don't doubt that front-line managers are just as out of the loop as front-line staff are, but somebody knew this was coming at least a few days in advance. To do nothing to communicate it in a way that limits the inconvenience for front-line employees is just plain inconsiderate.

That justifies not giving more than a day's notice for stores closing (it's still dickish an exploitative, but at least it makes some sense), but it's still no excuse to just lock the store and not tell employees anything until they show up and read a sign. Saying "we're closing, this is your last shift" and the end of all shifts the day before doesn't leave any opportunity to sabotage the business, nor does sending out a text overnight.

I don't think in most cases they know. Usually it is the district manager that finds out first thing in the morning "Oh, by the way, we are closing 10 of your restaurants effective immediately. Do the needful.", which by the way is still 3 management levels above the employee who needs to know that they shouldn't bother driving in to start their shift in an hour.

Because I am really starting to hate IDW as a comic book publisher. I used to like their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, then when they started splitting it off and producing a million different sub-series I stopped caring about it. Actually told my comic book store to stop pulling them for me after they ended the main series because it got to be too much.

Wonder how many people still have one of those? And more importantly what they look like after 20+ years of use.

Compared to some hobbies, video games isn't really a "I could have invested it!" thing. It is so minuscule vs. what some people pay on sports, cars, boats, planes, or other hobbies. Besides, the whole investment thing is BS anyways. Like the people who say "Don't pay off your mortgage early, you can invest the extra money!". The math behind it is so far fetched once they try to explain it to you.

Just enjoy your hobbies and avoid making stupid big purchase. A $60 once every week or two is not breaking the bank unless you don't make enough money to justify it, which considering you aren't homeless and hungry (I assume) isn't the case.

Billionaires will gladly pay people smarter than them millions of dollars to avoid having to pay the government hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Once you realize that, you understand that the secret to personal wealth is to be one of those smart people conning the billionaires.
