Self-censorship is driven by fear. It is closely connected to censorship and intimidation of the public space. When people stop fearing for the consequences of what they say dictatorships fall. Fear is often a very legitimate feeling, but it comes at a price. A fear society doesnt have to apply repressive laws because people themselves will internalise the limits of freedom that have been drawn by intimidators of one kind or another. Citizens will practice self-censorship so that there will no need to silence them. They will silence themselves.
Self-censorship is invisible. You will only learn about it if people are honest about their motivations for not saying one thing or the other out of fear. You cannot pass a law that protects people against fear. Its extremely destructive for a society. - Flemming Rose

Censorship describes a variety of processes formal and informal, overt and covert, conscious and unconscious, by which restrictions are imposed on the collection, display, dissemination, and exchange of information, opinions, ideas and imaginative expression.
Censorship is an instrument to assist in the attainment, preservation or continuance of somebodys power, whether exercised by an individual, an institution or a state. It is as Michael Scammell, one of the founders of Index on Censorship has put it the extension of physical power into the realm of the mind and the spirit. - Flemming Rose

Brand, who always seemed to skew left in his political beliefs, has found a loyal fanbase in right-wing conservatives and anti-vaxxers who have flocked to his YouTube and Facebook accounts, hailing the 46-year-old as a so-called voice of reason.

The titles of his videos are often designed to delight or infuriate, depending on the viewers political stance, leaning heavily on incredulous clickbait titles such as: Thought Biden Couldnt Sink Any Lower?? THINK AGAIN!!, Did Liberals Use Feminism to Justify Afghan Cluster Fuck?, SHOCKING Wuhan Evidence: Did Fauci LIE?, and So...Trump was RIGHT About Clinton & Russia.

being autistic is not a birth defect

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.

If they cured the difficulties "Person A" had with social interaction, and communication and reduced the need they had with restricted and repetitive behavior - "Person A" wouldn't magically change as a person just like that.
"Person A" would still be the same person, with the same personality. Person A would just be able to change their behaviors more easily.
Obviously eventually that could lead to a different "Person A" through divergence than if this "Person A whose difficulties weren't cured" from this hypothetical point in time - but that's a different conversation.

The above, is also, why - even if this chip "magically" sorted out all the Autistic neurodevelopmental issues - anyone who was unable to function in society without care, prior to this magically chip - would need many years of therapy to even begin to function in society with care. They would need to be taught again, from scratch - but they would be given a chance to, which they are barred from, at the moment.

Also, how is it a plot hole if a mortal can kill an immortal through chopping off their head? They are immortal, not invincible.

They absorb their strength, which is "Quickening", which for some immortals is tied to unique skills such as clairvoyance, and Sorcerer skills, and some of their memories and experiences (occasionally).
If you kill all your fellow Immortals you get The Prize, which is you become the same as the source. Most immortals, even the good ones - wish for The Prize.
When enough immortals die, all the remaining immortals shall be drawn to The Gathering and shall kill each other until there is only one.
The last one will have the power of all the immortals who ever lived. Enough power to rule planet earth forever.
