some places they throw the food in the trash if you cant pay. Which is wasteful and idiotic. And also cruel

It's different in the poor sections of the LAUSD. Kids can't carry food out of the cafeteria. Any uneaten food has to be thrown away.

There's a very good reason for this. In the past, poor kids would take their cafeteria lunches home to their family so that the family could eat. As a result, the kids themselves didn't eat during lunch, which defeated the purpose of offering cafeteria lunches.

I don't see how the actor is supposed to be responsible for it when they have an armorer specifically to ensure gun safety, but we'll see where this goes...

IIRC Baldwin was a part owner of the production company, so he was partially responsible for the lax safety standards that caused the death. There were signs before the shooting that the set was dangerous. Employees had previously walked off the job over fears for their own safety. Baldwin could have thrown his weight as an owner at any time before hand to fix the problem.

Edit:

--Zero- posted...
Why would you expect a gun to be loaded on set?

The armorer was a wreckless gun nut who liked to fire off live rounds at empty bottles on set during her lunch break. She would often have live rounds and blanks sitting on the same table. She was fired from her previous job and quietly blacklisted because of a mix up with live rounds that nearly killed someone.

Authentic Mexican cuisine uses a herb in bean dishes that resembles mint and is called epazote. Epazote is a medicinal herb that prevents gassiness and bloating. However, eating too much epazote can make a person ill, so most food preparations outside of Latin America replace it with cilantro.

I may be wrong, but didn't Japanese law prevent Capcom USA from purchasing Capcom JP back in the early 2010s. It's illegal for a foreign entity to purchase a Japanese corporation. Or maybe that was magazine/fan speculation.

If it is true, then I could see Capcom being enthusiastic about Sony buying them.

Historically there is a huge opening at the crotch of the pantaloons that is hidden by the dress. This makes it easier to urinate into a chamber pot while fully clothed. The downside is that if she spreads her legs too far, or her dress is pulled up too high, her vagina is completely exposed.

Media glosses over this and stitches up the opening for modesty sake. But this is the real reason men went nuts and women were highly embarrassed in old comedies. This is also the reason the can-can at the Moulin Rouge was scandalous.

Then later writers after DeFalco forgot all about that and had MJ rage whenever Peter came home late from patrol (I'm looking at Todd McFarlane).

It was pretty creepy watching her cheerfully being interviewed knowing what was about to happen to her. She talks about her life including her cat, her new great grandchild, and her senior tap dancing class she attends. Then it shows her after death, when her body is frozen in a lab and the medical researchers dismember her with a bone saw. The process was bloodless. I remember the corpse looking like her, but it also looked artificial, like a really well done statue in pieces waiting to be assembled.

To be fair, high fantasy tropes are fascist. Michael Moorcock, Ursula K Leguin, and China Mielville have all brought this up in the past.

One of the most damning criticisms of high fantasy was a parody novel with the framing story being that it was written by Adolph Hitler. The novel was played straight with all the tropes in place, but still sounded like Nazi propaganda. The way he described his orcish race sounded similar to how he described Jews. Pure elvish blood might as well have been pure Aryan blood. The Elves blond hair and blue eyes were also praised as being beautiful above all others.

Most of modern society is too savvy to know you can't reduce a race, even fantasy races, to stereotypes. They demand nuance. So many people wanted to play "good Drows" that they had to create the goddess Eilistraee and her drow followers. Female orcs have become sex symbols in the wider fantasy genre.

I was Googling this, but couldn't find anything about it. I did, however, find something more interesting about artificial vanilla flavor...

In 2006, Japanese researcher Mayu Yamamoto figured out how to extract vanillin from cow poop. She was awarded the Ig Nobel Prize at Harvard University for this development.

My mistake about grape. But artificial grape flavor is based on the concord grape, which is not very common in supermarkets in the US. Banana flavoring is based on the Gros Michel variety of banana, which did go nearly extinct back in the 50s due to a disease. The kind in the supermarkets today belongs to a group called the Cavendish. Gros Michel are way sweeter than the Cavendish family.

Another interesting bit is that artificial vanilla used to come from the anal glands of a beaver.
