Sun Valley was originally supposed to be a massive UI/UX update to Windows 10, and Windows 10X was a dual screen-optimized version of 10 Sun Valley. It took Microsoft way too long to get a decent amount of progress done on each, and they were getting grilled by PC manufacturers who were under the impression there'd be new MS software in time to drum up hype for the Holiday shopping season. Microsoft cancelled both projects and in an attempt to satiate their hardware partners, pushed out Windows 11, which is literally just a faster, better-looking version of Windows 10, with a lot of Store apps being redesigned. TL;DR - Microsoft spent too much time working on too many projects, pissed off PC hardware manufacturers, and slightly modified Windows 10 and shipped it as a new OS to make new PC hardware look more enticing for (2020) holiday shoppers. s0nicfan posted... Ironically, wasn't 11 supposed to introduce native Linux into windows so you no longer had to run a VM to get to a bash shell or Android instance?That feature is called WSL and I've used it quite a few times.
