Was Doctor Strange right? I've also noticed an increasing trend for people to say that Phase 1 of the MCU was best and the only reason critics consistently praise later movies is because they don't want to anger Disney. Even though half of the MCU movies with sub-80% RT scores were made under Disney's watch (and that's NOT counting Iron Man 3 since Paramount was still attached to it for contractual reasons). The MCU has just somehow gotten into a rhythm that keeps pleasing critics and general moviegoers no matter how much some on the Internet want to complain. --- Why do people act like the left is the party of social justice crusaders? |

Might also be worth noting that MGS2 had a higher seed in BGE3 than it did in GOTD, despite the former contest being all-inclusive. There's also nothing really wild about MGS3 beating 1. MGS3 has morphed into the series' fan favorite. Most of the reason I felt SOTC caught a bandwagon against MGS3 is because that whole eightpack looks too high in the lol x-stats otherwise. Diablo II > Final Fantasy IX no thanks. --- Why do people act like the left is the party of social justice crusaders? |

I thought it would be obvious because that's what What If episode 1 was retelling but I guess not. Also I apologize completely for the one stupid time I made a topic earlier asking why people were thinking Chadwick Boseman would be a shoo-in to win a posthumous Oscar over the legendary Anthony Hopkins. I still think that was a fool's errand but I meant no disrespect to Chadwick. I just barely remember Civil War since I wasn't really keeping track of the MCU at the time and I just saw it for the sake of an outing with friends. The dumb thing is that just two years later I caught The Avengers on TV and watched the whole thing, and then I was able to go straight to Thor: Ragnarok the next month without feeling lost. And likewise right from there to Infinity War. Hadn't even seen Iron Man, Captain America 1, or Thor before seeing Endgame. --- Why do people act like the left is the party of social justice crusaders? |

I suppose you could make a case for Ghostbusters but I think that was more news media only addressing sexist backlash it got before release, which made it seem like people who merely were against the idea of a reboot regardless of the leads' gender or who hated the trailers were being painted in the same brush as them. At worst it's a case of sensationalism, which is really nothing new. Honestly most of what bugs me is people thinking Captain Marvel was going to be another Ghostbusters reboot fiasco and then convincing themselves it still was by insinuating Disney bought the box-office which has so many holes it's not even funny. For one thing, Samuel L. Jackson alone is probably a bigger name than the whole cast of the Ghostbusters reboot combined. --- Why do people act like the left is the party of social justice crusaders? |

Cool how they got most of the original actors to return, including Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Kurt Russell. And uh yeah I find Karen Gillan's voice arousing. I'm not entirely sure why I liked this episode so much more. I was half-thinking it might be because Black Panther is one of my favorite MCU movies, but TFA is too (personally prefer it to all the Avengers films). Maybe this one just wasn't so similar to its source film? That kind of reminds me of one of my main complaints with Black Widow - it felt weird with a capital W to be back in the aftermath of Civil War. I'm glad we're getting more female-led comic book movies in any case. Now I wish they're actually GOOD, but I don't want to imply that they're really any worse on average. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be based on the Honest Trailer and MauLer but otherwise until the last act it felt like the most generic spy movie ever and even the best moments felt like a pale imitation of Metal Gear. Massive props to Pugh, Harbour, and Weisz though.
