i usually turn on party effects for 4 man content and off for 8 man, and the first time i had a summoner in ex roulette was absolutely hilarious

Don't forget JP Haurchefant was hitting on you outright constantly, and all of Limsa's background NPC dialogue. Game's still pretty sexual at times!

people try to pull the first two packs together and die and decide to only single pull for the rest of the dungeon

which is on the healer+tank combo but mostly the healer (unless the tank is a war, in which case they absolutely live thru the aoe lol)

doma in particular punishes people who only rely on gearing to get them thru mechanics (because doma castle gear is above augmented shire gear ilvl)

at the moment every class has a niche (drk is king of opener dps, by a lot!) but its just that warrior sits very far at the top of the casual niche... which extends to prog niche. which is too accessible too many for 1 class

edit: im drunk but the synopsis of wat im saying is war is fuckin' hella atm compared to other tanks and its wtf

doma castle is probably still the most iconic levelling dungeon to this day

first two packs can murder an unsuspecting group and make them pull slow for the rest of the duneon

i can't see myself levelling another tank until they nerf war, its just so overpoweringly fun to play right now. i'm convinced a good war could 1 tank 3 dps expert dungeons wall to wall without problems, especially if one of those other dps was a summoner or a reaper to provide a little extra sustain

never forget gc turn ins, you can get to 90 in like a month or two from 15 with em

a lot of the time i just level my crafters by buying whichever gc turn ins are relatively cheap on the marketboard each day

wow still has more cultural impact at the moment but there's no way they're gonna catch up to 14's subscription count without something like wow2

wow still has 14 beat in raids and harder content in general but that's... pretty much it

as someone with 6k hours in jp pso2, the accelerated release schedule of base pso2 burnt me out big time and NGS was a horrifically laggy mess

melding is pain

buying the tome weapon should be something you do pretty early because of how hugely impactful weapon damage as a stat is, far more so than any substats. the only reason you might not want to is if you're confident you can and want to farm the ex trail without it but i think assuming everyone even wants to do ex trials is lol

meld or overmeld? regular melding could always be done with an npc, overmeld always needed the class that repaired the item. did that get changed

I don't like when developers come in and say actually yes it's against TOS to play a certain way.

some manners of play are actively griefing, though, like having 5 people queue for msq roulette and having 4 of them openly and belligerently afk while threatening to kick everyone else

since ff14 is a themepark MMO, there IS no community-at-large to be held accountable to. there's almost entirely roulettes and party finder with people you'll probably never see again or with relatively small groups of friends. it's not like ffxi where you require the approval of others to even progress in any party setting or eve online where you can get mudered out of nowhere just because people dislike you and want to hunt you down

it's not "at the moment", it's always been like that

FF14 is a super weird game. Every mmorpg I've ever played people have been elitist dicks, except one. No one has ever been a jerk to me in FF14, don't get me wrong I'm sure they exist but people have always been patient and willing to explain things to me when I play.

xiv toxicity swings the other way where some people absolutely refuse to listen to the most banal of advice, like "tanks should turn on tank stance" or "sages should use kardia on the tank at the start of dungeons"

Warrior healing is why I'm levelling the class lol. Unlike all other heal-on-hit stuff in the game it scales with the number of targets hit with a flat heal for each one, so 8~s every 25s in mass trash pulls they're effectively invulnerable (I usually outheal the healer by a lot). In dungeon boss fights they can extremely easily handle all tank damage with their other self heals too. I did a 3 dps 1 war run of doma castle the other day and it was nowhere near challenging, though the rdm did have to spot heal the other dps every now and then because I didn't have nascent flash at that level.

Nascent Flash is a shared cooldown with Bloodwhetting, so they're giving up a tiny bit of personal mitigation and a small shield, but if theres actually someone to heal it's almost a good idea to Nascent Flash someone else if it saves the healer a gcd or two. Nascent Flash duplicates the healing they would have gotten off of Bloodwhetting to another target.

weapon counts for two equipment slots (blame pld) when averaging ilvl fyi so it might!

Sure there is. Faster queues, changing up the gameplay, etc.

You only have to clear each fight twice before crafted battle gear should be available via the savage patch. You can also just get four accessories week one for an alt class if alt ilvl is important to you to help boost it.

Well, it's not like there's any point to do raids on alt classes.

i dont think i discovered sleep as a concept until like 10~ game days played

but i did.... die alot....

DS/T is definitely a viewer's delight game lol

the base mechanics regarding sanity are so punishing i haven't really found a sustainable strategy for it earlygame, but speedrunners and youtubers probably got it down

the only time i don't repeatedly die from sanity loss is with specialized characters like Maxwell who simply do not care about sanity

yeah i'm pretty sure i got the base game for free or on a huge sale because i would have never tried it otherwise, but it is pretty damn fun, even if i never get far lol

first time i played it was in multiplayer and i just played the character that could only eat logs and had an infinite use axe, i specialized entirely into the woodcutter role and it was pretty hilarious of a time

i think you can still unlock all of these characters in Don't Starve and in general they're probably stronger, but man some are so specialized idk how people can play them outside of multiplayer

its a loooooooooooot less shitty than it used to be. when i started in 2015~ it was a 10~ hour affair; the secret tech everyone used was torrenting the new files, putting them in, and letting playonline validate them. now it seems like they've finally fixed their shit and it goes as fast as your internet is

its like $10 now right? def worth a try. i will say the game was a lot more fun with a controller than kb+m, if you have one available lol

lol i got 90002'd twice today, once right before i was about to finish the final boss of a trust dungeon

yeah, but it's still just as good solo

the main difference i read was stuff like expansion/dlc content drastically changing the game in DS while mostly just giving you interesting playable characters in DST. like the pigmen dlc changing the setting for DS (you have to live in a pigmen city and interact with shops and stuff), but just introducing new aspects for DST (like the pig princess playable character)

lol i'm terrible at dst and when the hounds spawn in after a few days, i basically have to stop the game

barely played base don't starve, don't starve together feels like the version to play in general

the main thing that made 13 bad was it took 80% of the game introducing all the battle mechanics to you, and 13-2 lets you fly with em all right out the gate

the other thing that made 13 bad was its linearity, and 13-2 is far less linear

Yeah its super straightforward in a good way. Your next step is pretty obvious at all points and you have a LOT of instant casts

Apparently the issue that's been causing people to disconnect is from a bug from the first version of the game over 7 years ago

the 2002 error is caused by them having weird ass programming

theres a certain number of people that can tax the queue servers at the same time and every 15 minutes it recalculates this, and if its already full because of new people slapping the server, people who have been in the queue can get kicked out with the same 2002 error

people currently in queue should get absolute priority, i don't think anyone would argue with that statement. but EW in particular has stressed the servers so hard with the increased player count that it's finally becoming a big problem

yeah that, the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel storyline that started and ended in 2015 was supposed to be the last bit of actual content the game was going to receive (with the only new gameplay thing being the monthly ambuscade challenges that were recycled enemies with memey challenges like react to the boss's spell and cast the corresponding barspell or die)

but more story has been released since then, and they've even added a new summoner avatar. and the player count is higher than it was during rhapsodies. you can't see shit in towns anymore because there's so many players and the game's ps2 coding literally cannot handle it

they promised no more non-maintenance updates whatsoever after the conclusion of the story and then had to backtrack on that because player count just kept increasing, it's pretty great

these are midcore players who are trying to bluff their way into hardcore raid groups by stomping (relatively) trivial content very hard
