NGL, considering the last time I played a fighting game was ages ago, the music is probably the thing I'm most looking forward to.

Definitely weird, but it isn't that ridiculous to eat a normally-thawed food from frozen. My mom used to freeze Reese's all the time and then eat them that way. I know someone who froze bananas to serve like that.

The thing that's odd is that you don't normally eat an eggo at room temperature. You toast it first, and typically put stuff on it. It's the equivalent of eating a frozen piece of bread that you could have made a sandwich from or put butter on, etc.

I started it over the weekend. (I think I've conceded on Ori since all I have left is the darkness area and I have zero interest in doing it.)

Blasphemous is...interesting. Feels like I'm playing one of those really old, stiff, arcade-style NES games where all the movements are very deliberate and you have to predict what's happening before you do it. The setting is extremely developed, with basically everything buying into iconography around the Spanish Inquisition. What I like is that there are a ton of different paths to explore right out of the gate. Unfortunately, there's also corpse runs. The downside of not doing them is minor, and you can eliminate it without the run by paying certain NPCs, but unlike a game with runback mechanics like Hollow Knight, because of the slower animations, I feel like I'm punished more heavily in Blasphemous. (Which is ironic because the penalty is lighter than HK.)

Anyway, I'm not really clear how the upgrade system works yet. I've beaten one boss and didn't really get anything for it besides 1/3 of a quest done. It did let me reach a new area where I bought a key to somewhere back at the beginning, and I got one "tech" from that, but this is definitely one of those games that gives you tools and doesn't club you over the head with how to use them. I usually prefer being clubbed, but the way they handle the item descriptions and all the lore around the game is quite fascinating.

I'm also only 2 hours in, so it's way too premature to judge the game off anything I say here. These are just first impressions.

I did not expect the first two responses to be suggesting a chair from IKEA. Huh. I may have to go wander around their storeroom.

A little over two years ago, I bought a house, and more or less pressed the reset button on my computer set-up while I was at it. The computer's fine. The desk is decent unless I want to try a standing desk. But the one thing that really hasn't held up at all is the office chair I bought.

The chair before that one, I had for like 10 years, despite the outer layer of it peeling off and the cushion wearing away to nothing. I still have that chair for the cats to sit on and it feels about as good as the new one does now. I tested out every chair I could sit in at Staples, considered sale prices, and thought I was getting a good chair...after all, it's what worked the time before that.

But this chair really hasn't worked out. Butt support was okay back when, but it's crap now and I get funneled into the center of the seat. Lower back support has never been quite right. My bony elbows are sore a lot. With as much time as I spend at my desk, investing in a good chair seems like an obvious expense, but buying a chair is a lot like buying a pair of shoes -- you can't really ask someone else to do it for you. Still, I can't exactly try out chairs before I buy them, and I'm absolutely not dropping a pile of money on something that I'm going to be unhappy with.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can find a chair I'll be happy with? Obviously, individual chair recommendations are also welcome, but I want the feeling of money well spent upon purchase and not a bunch of question marks, if possible. User reviews only go so far.

Office chair, gaming chair, doesn't matter. Not looking for anything exotic, don't need a bunch of features, and not looking to spend Herman Miller prices. My last two chairs have both been (on sale for) under $200.

Reading this makes me cry, especially paired with the thought that I've toyed with this notion in the past for far more petty reasons than being in chronic pain. The one thing that could always bring me up short was knowing the pain I could cause for those I left behind. Now I'm feeling pain, vicariously, through you. Not my place to judge if it was worth it or not, but I hope you can find some sense of normalcy and stability with a brother-sized void in your life.
