Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark?

Yep, it's the most faithful FFT clone I've ever seen. Takes away some of the jank, and is still a solid game. I have 32 hours played, and probably should have finished it, but eventually I just meandered off.

Just received Bloodstained and Griftlands from Abacus. A game that I've had sudden strong interest in after playing a bunch of other metroidvanias, and a card battler I've been watching since early access. Both games I'm sure I'll enjoy greatly, so thanks!

edit: Oh damn, I accepted too quick. Also Yoku's Island Express and Shantae & the Pirate's Curse. Damn, dude. Your generosity is overwhelming. I was thinking I'd stock up on some things to play while they were on sale, but maybe that isn't needed after four games (plus Omori from plum's topic).

That was very kind of you, plum. I will definitely try out Omori in the next day or two, maybe even stream it.

Any kind of seeding that doesn't involve selecting the positions intelligently is going to end up being a crapshoot anyway. Given that we have no past performances to judge by, one person's opinion was probably doomed to have even more glaring failures anyhow, so there were bound to be some rough patches. Definitely a few early matches I wasn't keen on (see:topic poll), but that's probably inevitable.

I wouldn't go near a game that you describe. I hate games where crafting is a central component to begin with.

andy, thank you for hosting and for doing a bang-up job of balancing your original vision against the VGMC crowd, and then delivering. I definitely would not have provided all the stats and commentary you did while running a contest, and I respect you for it.

I know this is the part of the contest where everyone thanks the host, and it feels like it's all a bunch of light "thank you"s at once while the rest of the time the silence of the internet swallows their appreciation, but I wanted to give you a big thumbs up for a great job.

I only played the beginning of WC3 and know the rest via WoW, but man some people be hatin'.

NFUN: Factorio seems like the kind of game I like in concept and then would get bored of after an hour unless it really clicked with me. I'd love to be proven wrong, though, because it looks like it can be a lot of fun.
plasma: Oh wow, I didn't realize Guacamelee had multiplayer. That game came up during my metroidvania topic, so I was looking at it pretty seriously, but I ended up buying other games that got more recommendations.
andy: I only have a PC, so Cadence is out, sadly.
UF8: I have not played Obra Dinn, and I'm honestly not sure at a glance whether I would love it or completely balk if I tried it.
Plum: Looks like you've played more than me, then. But wasn't Baba Is You in the last contest?

Aside from Subnautica having a strong showing, this poll has turned out mostly how I expected. Thought SK would have a little more of a lead, but maybe it's just blase at this point. Honestly, I'd be willing to try out almost any of these games except maybe Darkest Dungeon, which doesn't really seem like my thing, so hearing interesting, unusual, or particularly enthusastic recommendations is very helpful. There's a solid chance I pick up some of these during the winter sale.

Oh, and I might as well give my opinion of the ones I have played.

Hollow Knight and Stardew Valley are amazing. Crosscode was good until I got tired of it. Pyre and Slay the Spire never really got off the ground for me. I liked Crypt, but I was bad at it. Disco Elysium is tremendously overrated, but the line-level writing's good. And I didn't get Terraria at all.

I started following Best Indie Games (Youtube channel) and have been appreciating the content, but I discovered their 25 best games of the decade video today -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCPsdkY6BVA -- and decided this might be an extra nudge to play some of the games I've been missing out on. Yeah, I'm almost two years late to this party, but all the more reason to note if there's something I'm missing out on. Especially since Steam Secret Santa is in a couple days.

It's been over a week now, and Ori is pretty much all but forgotten. Yeah, I'm not going back as a continuation. If I resume the game, it will be on a new playthrough. Something tells me I won't be, though. That area just made me too uncomfortable. It's one thing to limit your visibility and use that as a mechanic -- that's not uncommon. It's also one thing to make it so you have to move spot to spot before you "drown," even if the Sonic drowning music still gives me nightmares. It's another entirely to put those mechanics together, while making the timer all of three seconds, and putting the next safe haven far enough away that it isn't even on-screen when you start. There's nothing fun about that. It's just nerve-inducing.

The worst part is that I checked a guide, and it describes the places I was at the end like I was supposed to already have a light source ability, but fuck if I know where it was, and I'm not interested in going back to find out.

Anyway, I played more of Blasphemous until I got stuck. The game isn't very Metroidvania, tbh, considering there's like no movement tech upgrades. I got one thing to make little platforms in select spots, and that's it. Considering my big goal is to collect 3 visages and I have 2 of them, having been through like six or seven distinct areas on the map, you'd think I'd have gotten something else by now. This game must be waayy longer than I assumed it was, given that I've only gotten 2 points for the skill tree when the center branch costs like 17 to complete, but my percentage is surprisingly high considering.

At the end of the movie, and, I should point out, there is unfortunately more after the end credits...
I was just in shock and disbelief at what I had just witnessed.
I was laughing on the outside, and crying on the inside.
Everyone who was involved in this movie should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves.

There was so much cringe and nonsense. People were walking out.
I wanted to walk out so many times, but part of me kept believing it would get good.
That, there would be a moment, that would make it all worth it.
But there wasn't... I was just begging for it to end, and end quickly.

The Matrix trilogy each had moments in their movies that made you sit up and go...
"Holy shit! I've never seen something like that!" or "That was fucking cool!"
Rooftop scene. I know Kung Fu. Bullet time. The car chase.
Neo vs many Smiths in the park. Smith vs Neo in the rain... (to a lesser extent)

This movie...
Had absolutely nothing. None of that.
They tried. But every 'dramatic' scene fell flat.

The original trilogy was much more serious, too.
Matrix 4, did not feel like it belonged in the series at all.
Sometimes, I didn't know if they were poking fun of themselves. This should not be a comedy.
Especially when one character said "Warner Bros wants us to make Matrix 4."

They tried too hard to play on nostalgia.
So many scenes referenced the trilogy. They showed so much footage from the trilogy.
Neo turned into a pussy. Other characters, I don't give a shit about.
They were boring. It was all boring.

Such a shame... really.
I didn't even have high hopes, and I just felt like it was the worst movie I've ever seen.

Such a cash grab. And it's going to work. They'll make money.
We're probably gonna see Titanic 2 get made after this...
