also this happens after they've already survived unimaginable things for the past day or two. somehow they manage to survive all that, and then when there's no hope left and it's at it's bleakest, and the ending happens, and if he had waited just two more minutes before killing them, then they all would have survived because it turns out safety was jjjjuuuuust about to come through the fog

It's funny how so many gamer nerds act like developers are ruining female character designs by making women who they claim aren't attractive enough for their standards, or the ones who complain about SJWs whenever a game features POC main character. These same people never cared or noticed all the male character designs we've been fed that look like the same boring white guy in his 30s

when i saw that video yesterday it reminded me of a show I used to watch called Seconds from Disaster which spent each episode dissecting a different disaster.

In one episode they talked about a tunnel through a mountain in france in which a truck caught fire. the smoke filled the tunnel and there wasn't proper ventilation or places for people to escape. cars stopped behind the truck and in front of it. and lines formed both ways. people couldn't see the truck and didn't know why there was a traffic jam. they could not drive forward or backward. the smoke quickly filled the whole tunnel and killed 39 people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Blanc_tunnel_fire

i feel like dread would be a game you'd like, because there really wasn't much backtracking needed to advance the game

the maps in dread make me feel like it's a nightmare to explore but really I never got lost because it always spits you out very close to the next area you can unlock with your newest power.

And metroid fusion is a pretty linear metroidvania game. the extra cool part of it is that it does such a good job weaving a story with great atmosphere. although I still don't think TC would like it

I think there's just some game types that some people enjoy that others don't.

One of my favorite games is The Binding of Isaac and I have tried to get a few friends into it. Some like it and some come back with "Wait, that 30 minute run was for nothing?" and they feel they about wasted time and no progression. I get their point.

It is pretty wild that for rather vast stretches of the human species we did a lot of stagnating, or at least it seems that way.

for most of humanity's existence (about 200,000 years) we just wandered around and there were only about a million people on the entire planet.

It's only in the last 10,000 years that we started making settlements, farms, learned how to write, make tools, etc. And only in the past 150 years that we really revolutionized technology and travel. And only in the last 20 that [...]

basically humans have been around for 200K years and for the first 95% of that time life was the same no matter when you were born. Nowadays life is very different even between one generation and the next.

Source? It is part of gen 8 and is a spinoff as of everything they said so far.

game freak has only ever made one spinoff pokemon game before, it was Pokemon quest. game freak considers let's go to be a mainline game. my guess is that we're at the point where if it has integration with home and is a full pokemon adventure, they probably consider it mainline. they also said in the introduction to the game that it represents new approach for the pokemon video game series which to me sounds like it's not just meant to be a spinoff

It will be their next big game if it sells well. Game freak is trying out new things and seeing what sticks.

If it does badly, they'll call it a one-off. If it does well and if development went smoothly, they could very easily make it the new format for mainline games.

Even if it isn't made into the new official direction for mainline games, many aspects of the gameplay will be incorporated into future mainline games.

I think frozen is their best movie but Emperor's new groove is also great. It's hard to compare it with their others because it's so different from the rest.

Some people say it's sad how it was changed mid-development into a goofy movie but I probably enjoy it more as it is than I would've if it had been completed as planned.

Lilo and Stitch is probably my second favorite disney animation, and then the lion king.

my mom gives presents to everybody else but nobody else really gives presents to each other unless there's something one of us really specifically wants (usually there's nothing). also most of us are january babies.

I'm ok with it because buying presents they probably don't want, for nothing but tradition, is just needless consumerism. that's how people end up with funko pop trash they throw away after a year.
