when I started boycotting them they were donating money to groups that were trying to ban gay marriage and who would send gay people to conversion camps to try to make them straight. the ceo publicly announced that he didn't think gay couples could form a family unit. I was a gay high schooler and my reaction was "well fuck you then, i'm not giving you my money any more"

they claimed they would stop donating to hate groups but secretly were still going. Then I think in 2019 the company may have stopped, but its CEO is still donating to antigay groups personally.

In any case, I had the chance to try chick fil a year ago when I was at a catered event and it was actually a lot crappier than I remember it being

Lol you want to play battlefield so you can avoid politics?

Let's read a quote about battlefield 2042 from it's official site:

Humanity adapts to the new normal. Revolutions in energy, desert irrigation, hydraulic levees, and sea walls save coastal cities, reclaim farmland, and rebuild supply chains. Hope of finding stability leads to some nations re-opening their borders.

However, with no way to repatriate 1.2 billion people, No-Pats become a permanent fixture in all economic, military, and social policy making. Many No-Pats are still distrustful of the governments that exiled them and refuse calls to reassimilate. No-Pat leaders emerge, inspiring a new identity unbound to former nationality, drawing a line in the sand between the Old World and The New Normal. #WeAreNoPats becomes a rallying cry.

Amidst the world rebuilding, sparks of friction erupt between the US and Russia, as the last two superpowers both vie for control of this fast-changing world

But no politics though lol

Yes. When you bought Pokemon Red or Pokemon Blue, you were buying seperate games.

In this scenario, you are buying the same game twice.
if you're going to have 2 versions with slight differences then it makes more sense to just put the same content on but with a private flag that sets the variant. That's not a gotcha against game freak (or ilca)

the real problem is the decision to make different versions in the first place.

if you count regional forms and mega evolutions separately then it's 980, but 493 is still more than half of that.

Counting different forms as different pokemon is really iffy since most alt forms are things like 63 kinds of alcremie, 18 vivillon, 28 unown, 18 arceus, 18 silvally, 4 sawsbuck, 4 deerling, 10 furfrou, 5 genesect, 5 floette, 5 flabebe, 5 florges, 4 gourgeist, 4 pumpkaboo, etc

But I can see why you'd want to count something like giratina origin form separately, if you are counting regional forms or mega evolutions separately.

Color blindness doesnt mean you deny racism exists. It just means you shouldnt treat people differently in your personal life or in public policy just because of the color of their skin
i know what you mean and I think it's good on an individual level in your day to day life

but I think what we're talking about here is when people say "I don't see color" in an attempt to convince others that they aren't racist

then you should also consider that on larger, institutional policy-making levels, colorblind decision-making doesn't fix racism. because america has had centuries of time to institute racist policies that have messed up the system intrinsically, and just because you make your policy colorblind doesn't mean those deep-ingrained inequalities undo themselves. like if you stain a carpet, you can't just keep vacuuming like nothing happened and expect the stain to go away naturally.

"i don't see color" = "i won't acknowledge that you get treated differently from me, and i don't want to think about it."

it's good that you don't treat people badly by their skin color, but if you won't even acknowledge the problems that disadvantaged groups face, you're still part of the problem because it means you'd rather prioritize your peace of mind over facing an uncomfortable reality. if we want to end racism, it takes more than just being color blind, it takes examining the effects racism has had and taking efforts to undo them

it's also just very demoralizing when your experiences of bigotry are denied by the majority. Because they don't want to be reminded of how they have it easy and you don't. so they say "we're the same" and it just kind of shuts down the conversation about the different experiences they don't want to hear about.

Ted Haggard claimed to be formerly gay as well, but look what ended up happening to him.
ted haggard pretended to be straight because he was genuinely brainwashed by heteronormativity and homophobia, he earnestly wanted people to believe he was now straight, I'm sure he tried to convince himself he was straight also.

milo wasn't hoping to genuinely convince anybody he's straight now, it's a facade and nobody believes him, and he knows it. Not after years of being contently openly gay. no doubt he's still fucking men and not even trying to be straight in the bedroom. he just used it as a publicity stunt to try to revive his career. He's doing it with a wink and a nudge and might as well say "nana nana boo boo." he was hoping mainstream media would get into an uproar about it, call him offensive, fake, etc. which would entertain the conservatives who watch "liberals triggered" videos on youtube, and he'd recapture an audience and start his grift again.

unfortunately for him, the media saw through his act, basically rolled their eyes, and ignored his grand announcement for the most part. now it seems like he has nothing left in the chamber, no more shocking attention-grabbing reveals to make, and he's not allowed on twitter or patreon so he must make do with crappy jobs like hawking religious statues to old religious people lmao

I don't think edgy adult cartoons define american humor.

But basically south park reached an untapped market because it was one of the first shows to really be irreverent and to try to use shock humor. Other shows saw how popular south park was getting and hopped aboard, which is why we ended up with so many formulaic adult cartoons that try to be irreverent and offensive for laughs. Back in the 90s and early 2000s it used to be novel but nowadays it's no longer interesting to say something shocking in your cartoon. It's easy and safe to make a cartoon that uses that kind of humor which is why we see so many of those kinds of cartoons.

English/reading, math, science, and history are all important. You need to be able to read and understand things, and to write. A middle school graduate isn't very good at reading or writing yet. It takes further development in high school to become competent. An average person has regular needs for basic math skills. Whether it's for understanding finances (compound interest, or calculating how much money you'll have after your 4 next paychecks minus expenses) or making DIY stuff / home improvements..

That's just everyday stuff. Then you get into careers where this knowledge is critical.

Science is important. if so many americans had had a proper education in evolution and biology, there wouldn't be so many idiots bleating stupidity about vaccines. you can't reason with these people because they never learned this stuff and now they're too old and crusty and decrepit to incorporate new info.

PE is important because activity keeps you fit and also improves your learning abilities. I guess it depends on how good your PE class is though.

The other thing about high school is that it teaches you how to learn and how to think critically, and how to manage your time and work. And organize your ideas. It also introduces you to ideas, concepts, and cultures that you never would have looked into by yourself. And that's how a lot of people find their passions

Those old games also didn't bother to include prior legendaries like this one does. When they started to do that, they just plopped them in random areas post game or made them roaming legendaries
HeartGold and SoulSilver put most of the old legendary Pokemon in the game and they did it really well. https://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/legends.shtml

Mewtwo: in the cerulean cave (which was restored)
Articuno: in seafoam islands (which was also restored)
Zapdos: at the power plant
Moltres: in mount silver (I think it was in a new part of the mountain?)
Kyogre or groudon were in a tower you can find in one of the new routes, and you'd get rayquaza if you brought both of them with you
Dialga/palkia/giratina were given an entire new little area called Sinjoh ruins that you'd be teleported to if you took arceus to the ruins of alph. they made a whole event out of it with a cut scene and lore where you see Arceus give birth to the pokemon.
Latias/Latios, it gave you a stone which you'd take to the pewter museum to get evaluated. steven stone would tell you it's a soul dew, and then the pokemon would appear and fight you

Celebi also has a really cool event in those games where he takes you back in time and you learn about giovanni and his son. although you don't catch celebi from the event.

that's all on top of the legendaries from johto, which got cool locations also like the bell tower/whirl islands and suicune's appearances along with Eusine.

The legends used to get some good lore and curated attention in the games. Those games really worked them into their regions quite naturally
