And it's mainly because the "crime" aspect isn't really emphasized at all. Granted, it probably needed to be toned down anyway if Mando and the other good guys were gonna be on board but Boba should have still been just as feared as a crime lord as he was as a bounty hunter. I really didn't even mind his motivation for going this route. Realizing that the galaxy's bounty hunters are just disposable pawns for asshole crime lords and wanting to ditch that way of life, in tandem with his near-death experience and his experience with the Tusken Raiders is a cool route to take his character. But there just wasn't enough of a smooth transition between his ruthless, coldhearted bounty hunting days and his "rule through respect, not fear" persona to make it fully believable. So it comes across looking like they just Disney-fied Boba Fett. But if I'm being truly honest....while Boba Fett is definitely an awesome character, Mando is kind of just a much better version of him as far as being a character to center a story around. --- I have nothing else to say |

Something that's scary plays off of your fear. It presents a dangerous situation and lets your mind consider the worst possible outcome. Then when that outcome happens, there's a catharsis. That's why the jump scare is the go-to trick for horror films. It's a constant building of tension until 'that' moment you were expecting to happen happens. Creepiness is more a state of discomfort or unease. You may not necessarily be scared of something bad happening, but you're taken outside of a state of normality. You might be scared of heights, but nothing is necessarily creepy about high altitudes. On the other hand, reading about the actions of a serial killer from the past will definitely creep you out, but you're not necessarily scared of a potential outcome. Bioshock leans more on the creepy side because the story focuses less on making terrifying things happen to you, and more on putting you at a constant state of unease due to isolation. The two are used in tandem a lot of the time, but they're not necessarily interchangeable. --- I have nothing else to say |
