This sounds fucking incredible.

We started Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company because every American should have access to safe, affordable medicines. If you dont have insurance or have a high deductible plan, you know that even the most basic medications can cost a fortune. Many people are spending crazy amounts of money each month just to stay healthy. No American should have to suffer or worse - because they cant afford basic prescription medications.
If you are fortunate enough to have health insurance with a low deductible, the high cost of drugs is driving up the premiums that you or your employer pay, making getting health insurance expensive and challenging.
The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company takes these problems head on.

Because law-makers are corrupt and receive money from the pharmaceutical companies. It is that simple. Our politicians have allowed it because they directly benefit from fucking over Americans.

I heard about this a few weeks ago.

Some people think he might be doing this because it will make him popular af and then he might try an independent run for president in 2024.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if that's his motive if it means countless people can afford the medication they need.

And I thought Amazon pharmacy already had cheap prices. Good to see big companies starting to compete against each other and against the overall pharmacy ponzi scheme to bring prices down. No matter which company wins, we will benefit. Or at least thats what competition should drive.

Pharma is a big scam. Medicines cost peanuts but insurance and doctors upcharge you to thousands of dollars because they can. Doctors benefit from this as they get paid more by the insurance, insurance benefits from this as they manage all prices. The same medicine with the same insurance will cost YOU a different price than the other person standing next to you.

Your local doctor gets showered with free trinkets by drug reps, and is provided a closet full of sample packets of prescription drugs.

No, I'm not. It is unethical and disingenuous to do so especially when I know my patient can't "afford shit".

Which actually makes sense because he's a "small town" doctor and the supply of drugs he was given by the pharmacy reps was one way he could give those meds to patients who otherwise couldn't afford them or have access to them.

If they were good, we would pay them thousands of dollars to lecture at national conferences, interlacing their clinical language with our company line. Some physicians stood to make hundreds of thousands a year through speaking engagements and consulting fees. These programs are key to establishing a drugs legitimacy when it enters the market or when it begins to have competitors. Similarly, Purdue Pharmas launch plan for OxyContin called for the company to use its speakers bureau of several thousand doctors to give promotional talks at hospital programs.

Yes, that is how the opioid epidemic began 20+ years ago. Doctors learned a lot from that incident, and the medical system implemented new checks and balances for how pharmaceuticals and reps can interact with physicians now. There is an entire code of conduct that followed after:

The opioid thing was a mistake. I had an abscessed tooth a few years ago, and ended up with 130 vicodins somehow. Didn't bother to fill the last prescription.

I don't think there ever will be, it's a controlled substance that can't be delivered.

Same with generic Xanax, or Ambien, or Norco, rounding out the most popular drugs at my pharmacy. But good on the other stuff there and I'm sure the list will continue to grow. This is a huge step in the right direction.

Prices are this way because you charge a dollar, but private insurance pays a quarter and medicaid pays a dime.
It's the people who get neither who end up fucked.
