I mean it makes sense since it gives Wesley an out. He can either go down with his friends, or he can do the harder thing and admit the truth because he knows it will come out regardless. If anything, it made his choice that much easier.

I guess admitting the truth can be harder in the sense of hurting his friends, but in terms of career survivability, being the one to cave first is pretty much your absolute best bet to not get your ass kicked out of the academy permanently. That ends up even happening in the episode, Wesley just has to repeat a year and graduate quietly while the squad leader loses everything. IIRC Picard even admits to Wesley that his survival was a huge leniency from the board.

I just think that Picard putting that threat on the table makes it a less interesting morality choice. It should've been about the kind of person and officer Wesley wanted to be.

Oh you mean when Wesley Crusher got involved with the air show tragedy.

I'm not a huge fan of it myself, but the point wasn't that he did something horrible. It *was* an accident, it was something all the Red Squad members agreed to practice knowing the danger of it, and unfortunately it went horribly wrong. What Red Squad did wrong was attempting to cover up the accident and essentially blame the dead kid for it when they were all in on it. Once again it's shown that this isn't directly Wesley's orchestration but in fact he and the others are being manipulated by the squad leader who seeks to preserve his graduation.

The real dilemma in the episode is Wesley's split loyalty with his friends in the squad, and his loyalty to Picard and Starfleet ideals. That's where I'm not a fan of the episode's conclusion, that being how Picard just threatens Wesley that he'll report the truth and get them all fucked if Wesley doesn't rat. Kinda leaves Wesley without any choice of how to resolve things.

Why did they feel comfortable having something so bad happen to him? Well, I don't know how aware the writers were at the time of audiences' distaste for Wesley (despite IMO him being an excellent character after S1 where everyone sucks). They may have wanted to humble the Wunderkind.

Uh, no, if someone said "Dr Oz is untrustworthy because he is Muslim" then that's bigotry.

Oz is crafting a polticial campaign that hides his identity from his own xenophobic party, just so that he can get into office and support a party agenda that attacks people of his ethnicity and religion, presumably because he identifies more with his economic class. I think a dose of reality regarding the people he's banking on for support would be healthy for him.

It's mostly only the point of the reboot series, and they came to that design decision to make Hitman 1's episodic release feasible. Blood Money and Absolution were designed much more like traditional campaigns.

There's nothing bigoted about saying his name and religion, they're basic facts about him, especially his literal name. If the people he's trying to pander to in order to get elected and bolster a conservative, Islamophobic party happen to reject him for it, I would feel no blame or guilt.

Yeah no this is media circus built on circumstantial evidence that hasn't changed in decades. It's absurdly crass to make such a deal of this including calling their book "The Betrayal of Anne Frank." I have to reiterate that they literally just looked at circumstantial evidence that historians already knew about and said "well, it seems this guy is the most plausible suspect, so let's use his name to make money off of outrage for a dead girl."

Whoever's the opposition in Pennsylvania really needs to get on TV and repeat "Dr MEHMET Oz, MEHMET, MEHMET. He will be the first MUSLIM in the Senate."

I don't believe that a person's election chances should be affected by petty details like that, but if he wants to tie himself to the GOP ship, he should face the reality of how conservatives feel about people like himself that aren't millionaire celebrities.

I haven't cut my hair since maybe Fall 2019? I started growing it out to avoid COVID and then just kept it going. I just tie it behind me pretty much. It's been fun, but the novelty has worn off, it's a huge hassle to clean and dry, and it's started to just get on my nerves a little.

Thing is, when I wore my hair short I never knew what to ask for in terms of cuts or shape. In fact I found haircuts to be quite the source of anxiety.

I wish there was an app that used AI to map different hairstyles onto your head or something.

I like SMT because it's so strategic, press turns makes you think about your team order, weaknesses and resistances are way more important and a part of resource management, buffs and debuffs are useful, ailments work on bosses, enemies play by the same rules you do. And demon fusion on top of all that.

It turns out the series villain is impossible to find because he lives on a train always moving through the mountains like Snowpiercer. I guess that makes sense and it's a pretty cool reveal when 47 busts out of the Codename 47-looking lab room only for the camera to whip out towards the lashing wind and snow outside.

But I kinda figured they would go absurd and put him in space. Really wanted to have an out of context screenshot of 47 looking out an ISS window.

When I first started DS9 I was like "wait, him?! He's boring!" But they do a good job of making him the show's every-man.

Good to know later series are worth watching. I have all of them on my home server. Wasn't sure which one to watch after TNG.

DS9 starts in the middle of TNG, you'll know when the teleport operator OBrien disappears because he becomes chief of operations on DS9.

TNG is a wonderful show and Patrick Stewart's Picard is one of the best main characters ever.

Overall though I find it more comfortable to rewatch DS9. The latter does such a good job of showing the growth and change of the spaceship and its residents from episode to episode, so it's more exciting to rewatch and see how things used to look vs how it is in the final season.

Biggest problem with these new games js they're short if you're not huge on replayability. I just finished.

OK no fucking way... after finding the very last clue in the whole mansion (the sealed letter from the older brother half a century ago) I get a notification that the target has been eliminated by poisoning. If you wait long enough Emma kills the lady before you do! Holy shit.

I dont really know what's going on in the story but I like how both missions so far are important to the world and important to 47. I really like that 47 actually has a friend on the ground now too, put it together and I'm feeling a lot more motivation to play. Even if I still think the general conceit of these games doesn't live up to blood money

You can play offline but you can't unlock anything or progress so it's pointless.

This has been how it's worked since at least 2 and I think 1 so it's a little strange that people are only mad about it now, but I guess it's better late than never.

As a zoomer I've really tried to get into morrowind and Oblivion but they're really held back by their age.

Morrowind has some really cool writing in regards to the lore of Vvardenfell and the Nerevarine, a unique setting, and probably has the best main quest, but it's held back by most of the game's dated mechanics, including non-interactive combat, a slew of underdeveloped side quests, and relatively lifeless NPCs.

Oblivion... uh, it has some good questlines like the Theives' Guild. Shivering Isles is a good DLC. The combat was a step in the right direction and NPCs have schedules and everything. But damn, this game is UGLY, and the voice acting is awful if you want to take it seriously instead of make youtube memes. More seriously, the leveling system is abominable. Like, unacceptably bad. Oblivion is the game in the series most in need of modding to be remotely playable.

The issue is I just got the game from gamepass and I have a problem where reflections flicker, and there's weird pixelation around 47's head. The thing is, I can see someone on the reddit had this EXACT problem per the title of the first result that googling this issue gives you. But I can't read it, because the sub is private now!

There's not a minimap or anything so it feels more realistic and even scary in the sense that you have limited info about where anyone is. And then when you reach down to a corpse to strip their clothes in first person it seems way more fucked up.
