| Solar_Crimson 01/26/22 1:48:15 PM #1 | It came out in 1993, three years after the SNES had been on the market, and it was the second Kirby game (Dream Land being released the prior year on the Game Boy), so that meant that despite the SNES being around for a number of years at the time--and Hal had already developed a handful of SNES games prior--they nonetheless decided to develop Adventure for the NES. Same thing with Wario's Woods, which came out on the NES in 1994--only two years away from the N64--but at least that one also had an SNES version (which never released in Japan, so it's been ignored by Nintendo in the years since). --- I often wonder if we are growing as a people... or in fact, regressing. |

I've never played any of the games but Mara is an infamous demon that I think can be caught and trained like in Pokmon to fight for youShin Megami Tensei is actually a reboot of the original Megami Tensei games released on Famicom, which in turn were based on a series of light novels called Digital Devil Story. Shin Megami Tensei uses the concepts from those novels and earlier games, but are pretty far removed from them at this point. Yeah, Mara is just like any other demon in the series who can be negotiated with and fused to use, though depending on the game, he's also a boss character. He was voted the most popular demon in the series at once point, though he clearly can't ever be the series mascot due to his design. And I think Pokemon was inspired more by Dragon Quest Monsters, though Pokemon Red/Green started development way back in 1990, so Megami Tensei may have also had an influence. --- I often wonder if we are growing as a people... or in fact, regressing. |

If the N64 used disks, then--among others--it likely wouldn't have lost Square, Konami, or Capcom, all of whom jumped ship to Playstation because of the opportunities that disk-based media offered them. Plus, Nintendo was an established player in the game market, while Sony was a newcomer, so that could have also factored in them staying. They may have still released some titles on the Playstation, but we definitely would have seen Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Street Fighter Alpha, and the Mega Man X games on the N64. --- I often wonder if we are growing as a people... or in fact, regressing. |
