the difference between Xepher and IMAGE -MATERIAL- for me is kind of unbelievable. Xepher sucks (although it might merit a relisten). IMAGE -MATERIAL- rocks.

Battle -Threat- feels like the kind of thing i REALLY like (and i did REALLY like it during noms), but right now i only normal like it. in contrast, Paradise (Stay Forever) feels like the kind of thing i only normal like, but for some reason i REALLY like it. oh well. bye oninaki.

THE WIND IS PUSHING ME. this reminds me of "Let it Die" from the video game "Let it Die". nothing against Blue Line tho. its pretty good for what it is. best jon bois video bgm ive heard, and ive watched quite a bit of jon bois.

ok im oddly tired today and this match feels very hard to explain so uhhh just have a vote

oh i actually like both of these. Towards the Horizon appeals to my "im a very normie jrpg boy who just wants to jam out to cool orchestral music with electronic elements", while Flightless appeals to my "i like PROG MUSIC like dream theater but with WEIRD ELECTRONIC EFFECTS and this song makes me feel CONFUSED sometimes with the transitions. oh boy if only there was somebody else in the contest who also enjoyed prog music and weird electronic stuff and confusion as an emotion i bet they'd REALLY LIKE this song." in the end, Flightless is "good" throughout and i probably would not listen to it again, while Towards the Horizon is "great" throughout and i would put that in my playlist, so that's my pick.

for my third vote i choose the song CONQUEST from the video game FIRE EMBLEM AWAKENING
this is by FAR my favorite track in awakening. it's so damn good. i actually have trouble describing what makes this track special to me. it's definitely tied to some nostalgia for Awakening. it's definitely also tied to the way the Calm and Ablaze versions blend in-context. it's definitely the soothing bongos and guitar and stringy instrument and violin accompaniment all being super pleasant instruments to me (perhaps surprisingly, i prefer the Calm version to the Ablaze version). it's definitely the way that sometimes, when the moment is right, i can lean back and just let my worries dissolve into the rhythm and the sounds. mmmmmm.

anyway CONQUEST from FIRE EMBLEM AWAKENING is definitely gonna win VGMC this year and not die early. definitely. right guys.

i have NO idea why i love Paradise (Stay Forever) so much but i LOVE it. OH RED SKIES. WHERE LOVE DIES.

this match is tough, which surprised me. Battle -Threat- doesn't grip me as immediately or as much as Rocky Path, but Rocky Path really feels like it falls apart for me once I start trying to pay attention to the details (oh hey i think i said that about another unisuga song in this bracket :thinking:). Overall I think I have to go with Oninaki, but I won't be too sad if it flips the other way.

before i move on to talking about m3, i want to say: this group of four is STACKED. holy shit. if i made a favorites bracket, Battle -Threat- would barely make it through these first two matches, and then cruise through to retirement (possibly even top 4).

alright on to m3: singa force - sallant sunshot is cool. i don't think i actually *like* any of the details, but the main line is compelling enough, and everything else is good enough. meanwhile, you're not here reminds me of that part of that bill wurtz video where he says "lame, sad metal" except instead of metal it's... grunge? not a fan.
