Got it, I own both the snes and mini snes and I get the old feeling of playing games on CRT. If your purpose was to play on CRT then I bid you good luck on finding the original snes in good condition. I think because of covid a lot of people have probably been reliving nostalgia while bored at home so prices may have gone up to compensate.

The person making the tweet has a point. Using terms like "dick" and "pussy" as synonyms for "man" and "woman" low key implies that this is a "normal" or "real" man/woman. If people stopped using terms like this it would help make trans people feel more normal and accepted.

But no one using those terms is trying to be trans exclusionary. The vast majority of people don't even think of things that way. If you're going out of your way to be trans inclusive you should stay away from that sort of language (and I do personally)... but I don't know how productive it is to go around calling out anyone and everyone who uses the expression. I think situations like this call for what some people refer to as "calling in" rather than "calling out." Kindly and politely inform the person then invite them to be better, rather than immediately being negative and accusatory.

I also wonder how much the people here are acting in good faith. Was the first response to Lil Nas a sincere effort to make things better, or to increase their own level of fame by targeting a celebrity? Did the other people reply because they genuinely wanted to educate, or because it feels good to join in piling on someone on social media? Probably a mix of both but maybe more the latter than the former.

Of course I also question how much people are acting in good faith when they bring up twitter randos who have little to no cultural influence...

I get it though, that's just the way people talk, and I wouldn't think you using the expression means that you are transphobic. It's part of a larger whole of how gender is ingrained into society. I'm certainly not saying that if you don't immediately stop using the expression you are a raging transphobe.

I think it's something that would be good to have a nuanced discussion of, but twitter hates those. Cutting people down with pithy one liners is much more popular.

That is essentially the case. It's several layers of abstraction and inferred implications that were never explicitly made. The order goes something like this.

1. Lil Nas X is a man (explicit)
2. Lil Nas X is gay (explicit)
3. Gay men like other men (implicit)
4. Transmen are men (explicit)
5. Lil Nas X says he likes dick (explicit)
6. Lil Nas X is reducing the identity of a man into his dick (inferred)

By the time this makes the rounds across social media, point #8 is the only thing being shared and all the context is stripped away and people begin accusing Lil Nas X of things he don't even believe. Nobody ever asked him if he thought transmen were sexually attractive they just skip straight to calling him a transphobe because he said he likes dick.

It's possible that this person believes in being masculine presenting and hoping that if they aren't...physically equipped, that they can use alternative means to satisfy the urges of a strict bottom, such as a strap on.

This is a really odd subject to think about but I'm sure there are better answers to this. It honestly requires probably a serious discussion between gay/lesbian and transgender people. Of which I don't think ANYONE (including myself) in this topic fulfills. The best analogy I can make is a bunch of americans deciding what's in the best interests for another country to do to improve their lifestyles while not actually living in that country and just shoving whatever thing works for themselves in their own country onto the other country. It doesn't seem fair.

Realisitcally what a tweet like that encourages is a bunch of people who aren't LGBT+ and have no vested interest in improving the situation spouting a bunch of random shit or getting upset and criticizing how ridiculous it is to think like that. When in reality the poster was hoping to shed some light on what masculinity means to them to everyone and maybe link up to other transmales and what their beliefs may be. If they hear enough from other transmales or from enough gay men on what being masculine means to them, their own beliefs may change. But to hear what masculinity is from a bunch of cis women or cis men is of no help to them. Cis men/women haven't gone through any of the struggles a gay male, lesbian female, or trans male has gone through to understand what masculinity means for them.

I think the tweeter is interpreting what he has said to the extreme however. Unless Lil Nas X's lyrics has been broken down. Regardless often a lot of rap has a TON of homophobic, misogynistic, transphobic lyrics. To be a fan of the rap genre and the person you kind of should accept that they either actually BELIEVE in those lyrics OR that they write those lyrics to favor a target audience (in a manner the rapper supports those people who have those beliefs). It's kind of a lose lose situation. It doesn't stop someone from criticizing and hoping for a better rapper or an improvement, but still.

In case people don't understand, I think the argument the tweeter is making is that you don't need a dick to be male. In this perspective, I BELIEVE the poster is a transgender of female to male (due to the "keep ignoring and erasing us" [in the post they mention transmen]). So in this aspect they feel offended that to be a man you must have a dick.

It is possible that this transman is preop or feels left out because they feel male and they're being excluded unnecessarily since they do not have "the dick" that lil nas x desires. To them Lil Nas X is calling the transman not a man because they may not have a dick. And even if they were post op they still may find it offensive that having a dick is what makes someone male. That is not what they believe in and find it to be rather harming and a toxic stereotype to believe in.

Before people blow up at me, I'm just restating what they've said and interpreting it in a way that people on CE may understand.

Just replayed it. Its a great game but definitely dated. The story is barebones and just a reason to do dungeons. Without looking things up on the internet I would have had to wander around the map for hours before finding the one item I need to enter a specific dungeon. The puzzles are all legit though, and the combat is fine for a top-down adventure game from 1991 or whenever. Music is of course incredible.

I played with someone fresh to playing games on controllers (all they ever played primarily was FPSes) and they did fine on finding out where to go. They did spend a while the first time they got into the dark world wondering what to do as a bunny. She did get stuck in some dungeons dying a lot. Save states helped a ton for that...but I told her not to use them because that's not how I played it originally.

Reusing the point after having watched an SO play this game from start to finish (and beating Ganon for her because she died like 10 times in the final dungeon and ten times in the fight not knowing what to do). The game is challenging to people who haven't played many controller games or have ever played the genre of top down dungeon zelda type games. So in that aspect it's pretty challenging. I remember her flipping out whenever I used the hook shot to dodge the fire bat circles lol. But I told her the magic cape could serve the same exact purpose. Some people just pick up items and don't...check to see what they do often.

Regardless it brings to mind that old nintendo games were often played by pairs of people either siblings/friends/couples who were along for the ride and often provided insightful tips. And then those two would disseminate information to others who got stuck, or you could just use nintendo power or call the hotline or watch a video tape.

But to get a full time salary, what do they do full time? What is their workday like from start to finish?

Senators, reps, governors, etc.

They work small voluntary jobs for bigger positions like a house representative, mayor or a senator, from there they learn the political process and prove themselves and get contacts. Then they try to participate and run for local council (do the same nonsense of building up supporters and learning more processes and "playing the game"), then work their way up to being mayor of a city, then run for a house seat into a senator seat and hopefully president.

Obviously throughout all that they try to make sure they represent the needs and interests OF THEIR CONSTITUENTS.

They continue doing so until eventually they fall in line with the corrupt nonsense that happens in the background, or they get pushed out by all the other corrupt politicians. It's a lose lose situation. To be able to get to any powerful position you're most likely going to need some corrupt backing. It's a fine line to play if you wish to maintain the best interests of everyone while not stepping on any toes, which will be almost impossible since there are toes everywhere waiting to be stepped on.

In the end all you'll be distilled into is just some specific talking points you've made to have thousands if not millions of people hate you regardless of all other policies made. You'd have to be a pretty fortunate and clean person to not have any dirt pushed onto you, AND EVEN SO all it takes is some sort of claim to take you out. If you run a good PR campaign you can hopefully dodge. In general keep your mouth shut and you'll do well if you just say favorable things.

Please fix the spacing at the end of every post. I mentioned this before too, I don't know why there's an extra line of space at the end of someone's post and a signature (although the signature space has existed before beta).

Please make sure the report and quote buttons are blue in other style sheets, although that's something you guys are probably working on.

Also fix the awkward as hell heart symbol/favorites button at the upper right of the board. It's really weird seeing it out there all alone.

I didn't circle it, but there's a weird white line between user names on the LEFT side, it's pretty obvious when you compare the original to beta. Can that go away too?

I'm fine with the beta the aesthetics are significantly better than the previous eye cancer of before.

The golf mechanics have been simplified compared to previous titles.

I see people say this a lot and it's...kind of true, but I think a lot of it went into the spin mechanics. If you want to hit far by all means go power and control and ignore spin, but if you invest a lot into spin you can make your ball zig zag in the air or hook a really sharp right angle mid air. You can do insane stuff if you have an understanding of the "four" levels of spin. I think that's the coolest feature of the game is that you can control the spin of the ball at different points in the trajectory of the ball.

For people who want to avoid tanning best thing to do is look up UV indices for the area you're in. Example: https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=uv+index+boston+ma+4+pm gives the UV index for boston at 4pm today. Which shows a UV index of three relatively safe except for the lightest of skins. In general before 8 am and after 4 pm you're usually safe. Or wear sunscreen if you're out and about in those times. At noon it only takes about 30 minutes to get sun burned.
