6 I'll say. There's a fair amount of good stuff but it's messy throughout, could do with being more cohesive. And I was always bothered by *ending spoilers* Dunning not facing any consequences for ATTEMPTED MURDER of Kyle at the end lol. As others have said the sequel improves upon it significantly in every single way, it's a shame so few have played it with it never coming to the US!

Cool list! 2B seems like the answer if we're counting her, but besides that it's fun seeing which characters have strangely missed Nintendo entirely over the years (James Sunderland caught me by surprise). I'm sure 2B will show up on Switch properly in some fashion honestly, maybe even as the last Smash DLC.

(BTW Deus Ex HR came out on Wii U so Adam Jensen is out, I looked that one up myself earlier when he came to mind lol)

I'm sad this is just a slightly upgraded port, this game could really benefit from a proper remake. There's good stuff at its core but it needed far more than a little touch up to me. Like how did they not revamp the sky stuff, or at least speed up the flying! Ah well, at least the controls will work. Hopefully they made them fun >_>

I played Super Metroid for the first time on Wii, and it is amazing how well it holds up after all these years. For a while I assumed all SNES games must still feel that great, but after playing more... no this one is really on another level.

I haven't played ZM or Samus Returns, but Super is straight up the pinnacle of its genre. They perfected it right there. Like take LttP, Zelda iterated on that formula since then and imo has improved it, but Metroid had nothing to improve! And yeah Lower Norfair is hard but I like that! (And its banging theme tune)

I get why people have problems with Fusion but I'm glad that they tried to mix it up because you couldn't just do the same thing again but worse. And I'm a little wary of Dread because it looks kinda like it's just... Fusion again. Like it's a great formula but they're not doing anything new with it? IDK.

I didn't hate Other M at the time, aside from how badly they do Samus's character and the horrible first person stuff. I've soured on it since but I wonder how I'd find it on a replay. It is absolutely a more 'natural' progression of 2D Metroid gameplaywise (though I never got the massive hype over the combat), and there's some legit fun fanservice returns (Metroid Queen, Nightmare, Phantoon) in there. I think there's even some fun stuff with the Deleter+MB but they don't execute it well at all. Like IIRC you're left to figure out the Deleter's identity yourself as it's never outright said, despite everything else in the game being so literal and in your face.

I was also under the impression that this was going to be just one package for all six games so I thought $9.59 sounded great! But no of course not.

Yeah weirdly a lot of people reported on it from E3 like it was one collection, but they confirmed they were to be sold separately in official info and it was a rather generous assumption to make anyway given how these things usually go!

Agree with most of the takes here. I love what they were trying to do, and they do the war+class story really really well when it's the focus. But then they gradually abandon that narrative as the story goes on, and the last act is rushed and imo flat out bad in spots. I was especially let down at how Delita just stops showing up at all by the end (except the final scene of course, which is good).

I don't think the Zodiac stone stuff is inherently bad, there's some really good use of it earlier on when it's used to highlight the themes of the story and express character development and internal conflict in a fantasy way (most notably with Wiegraf). But then by the end it's just generic fantasy and there's very little subtext or meaning to anything going on. Even the Dycedarg confrontation was a disappointment to me, there's barely any dialogue and I got the impression the writers were rushing the game out the door by that point. It didn't feel like the emotional climax of Ramza's personal arc that it should have done, imo.

And yes the party members having nothing to say after recruitment really does hurt them, thankfully the antagonists in this game are far more compelling than in any other FF so it's not too egregious.

Overall I still want to give it a 9/10, just for how much I love the game when it's at its peak.
