Planet X is kind of a fun song. Reminds me a bit of Final Fantasy X - Prelude which I didn't expect at all. The Explosion is also fun though and nothing in Planet X can really compete with 0:50 in the The Explosion.

I do not like Caligula Effect music at all. (At least based on what's made it into these contests anyways)
The Senko no Ronde song is pretty good but this still ends up feeling more like an antivote.

I guess since we had a ton of potentially good vocal songs where I complained about the singer, now we get to have a seemingly great singer in a song that's just not that interesting. Some day we'll hit the sweetspot. Not really feeling Pressure Cooker today either though.

Spaceship is pretty much the type of chiptune I don't really care about. Not sure that there's anything particularly wrong with it but chiptunes just have to work extra hard for me to take notice since I don't often care for the instrumentation. Glessing Way is pretty cool Falcom and also it has a harpsichord which is an automatic plus in my book.

The inferior Trails from Zero boss theme is still pretty good it turns out. The Super Arrange version is probably an improvement overall and the violin is quite nice. I also generally like Baluchons because again pretty violin, but it isn't pretty enough to offset how much more exciting of a song Inevitable Struggle is.

Omori easily my favorite OST discovery of this contest. (I kind of want to play the game to tbh...) I didn't like this one as much as some of the other ones that got nominated, but it's still solid. Butterfly's Temptation has always been one of my least favorite VGMC regulars. Now I only dislike maybe half of the song but it still doesn't rank especially highly

I like both songs in the first match quite a bit.

Never liked Steam Gardens much. It's just so corny and not really all that directly engaging or exciting either. It is a bit better in-context and fits overall feel of the game well, but I still don't really care for it. The Sigma Harmonics song is pretty neat all-around.

I never had a problem with the Bloom Into You anime ending, but read the manga anyways because it's better.

Well, more accurately the anime is the better version for what it covers, but all the best parts of the story are after the point where the anime ended.

I've sunk 40-50 hours into the game and I think I've only finished like 40 requests or something.

Of course I've mainly been chasing high scores on the course score leaderboard rather than focusing on completion, but still.

I'm a bit lukewarm on the mood Out of Tartarus is trying to set, but it does such a good job setting that mood that I still like the song a fair amount anyways. Dear Dragon I didn't like much at first but the back two thirds or so turned out to be really cool. I especially like the part at 1:26 or so.

I don't know what a track like this is doing in a Looney Tunes game but ok. It's actually quite good. Gust vocals still gets the vote here but only barely as this is far from my favorite Gust song.

Untamed Heart seems like something I should like a lot on paper but I just don't. It feels too spontaneous and doesn't really work for me as a result. Foregone Destruction is pretty standard pleasant but unremarkable background music, which is easily enough for the vote in this match.

The last couple episodes of A Place Further Than the Universe are so good. The show just does emotional catharsis really well. Though, this is one of those shows also where on rewatches I've really grown to appreciate the development episodes early on. Really I just love the whole thing. Fantastic show if you're into that genre of anime.

Labyrinth VI - The Vengeful God in the Dark Ocean Abyss
Heartless Being

First match is definitely the easiest so far. Rain Formerly Known as Purple is really good and I think it was one of my supports. The main melody is catchy, and it continually adds to it in ways that keep it sounding fresh while also making the song sound like it's building to something. Top notch song. As for the Drakengard song, people familiar with my tastes will probably not be surprised by the fact that I have basically nothing positive to say about it.

Vengeful God in the Dark Ocean Abyss sounds like what would happen if Falcom had hired Yuzu Koshiro to compose Jade Corridor and it's pretty cool. Planet Wisp is also pleasant but not quite enough so for the vote.

I spent like 5 minutes trying to figure out why writing climaxes like in Heartless Being bothers me, but I couldn't do it so I will just leave it at that. Anyway song is kind of fun but also a bit too frantic for me.

Match 1 is the match of songs I don't feel much for by composers I really like in general. Ok actually linkage-alter is a bit better than I remember but I'd still rather this were Proud Dust or something. (Yes I realize that was literally in nominations and I did not support it, so I guess this is what I get, or something)

I still think Gurumin has several better tracks than this one to offer, but it is still good. It's also up against Mega Man which I'm generally not a huge fan of.

I feel like the writing in most fanfiction is quite bad tbh, which really makes it hard for me.

Of course, the type of fanfiction I'm mainly interested in if any at all is romance-focused stuff which might be worse in that department, idk.

There's obviously been some I've found that are good or great but that hasn't really been the norm.
