In a first playthrough, I will always try and use strictly new pokemon yeah. Though, they are making it harder by having few and fewer designs that are actually cool. Still managed to come up with at least 6 cool ones thankfully.

I mean, it's always been hard to do if you want a balanced team. Except for RS (excluding RB and BW since those only had new Pokemon), they've either locked a bunch of them to postgame only, or there's so few new ones that you're probably going to have to double up on a type just to get to 6. And even when they aren't locked behind postgame, they seem to love putting a lot of the new Pokemon as rare encounters on one route.

I can't really ding 5-4 too much for not feeling like a complete case, when G2-4 is a much worse offender about it. That one felt like it was split up to signify a tone change, since G2-4 ended after the second investigation day.

Honestly, the motive for 2-3 was so dumb that I don't think Hiyoko's bullying had anything to do with it. Heck, it wasn't even the reason why Mikan killed Hiyoko. And I think that's a pretty fitting end for Hiyoko, being killed by the person she tormented not because of the bullying, but because she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There weren't too many expendable characters left at that point. Hajime/Chiaki/Nagito all had roles to play later, Akane dying there has the same issue as Fuyuhiko, Nekomaru wasn't even around, Mikan was already chosen as the killer, and they probably had Gundham's character arc planned out at that point too. Which leaves Kazuichi and Sonia, and they probably kept Kazuichi around to fix stuff, so it was either Sonia or Hiyoko.

Of course, shes not really the smartest person. Id better go alone to talk to the yakuza in an abandoned building is a big strike against her intelligence, but so be it.

Honestly, that might not even be the dumbest thing she did. I'd say covering up the murder of a yakuza boss's daughter is dumber than that, and she's super lucky that she even lived long enough to get to the killing game after doing that.

It was more an issue in the earlier games, where you wouldn't be forced to pick up the Surf HM, and could get stuck somewhere where you couldn't even teach anything Surf since you didn't have the HM. HGSS actually has a failsafe in place in Cianwood where a guy gives you a Tentacool if you only have one Pokemon, but that doesn't help you if you never picked up the Surf HM in the first place.

It was an awful twist in EoE, and they somehow managed to make it even worse in WaW. Hopefully they bury all of the new twists from WaW deep in a hole and never dig them out.

I was talking about the winners of HHH, GI, and DvG in response to Centurion saying that they're why they added the Edge of Extinction. I know that Michele and Sarah were basically forced since Tina was the only female winner not on the season that they even contacted, and Adam was pretty much the last one they casted, probably because they wanted someone people sort of remembered if they couldn't get who they wanted.
