I like the dark feel of Mist. Good stuff. Axis Pillar a worse version of other Sky music whoops.

Yuri has a funky rhythm game-y feel to it. Dialga kinda feels like a weak knockoff of that cool Zelda song we had earlier in the contest.

I think Ys 1 probably had more of a story than Metroid 1, and that series started in 1988. Never played the original Ys 1 though. Same character in each game too.

Timeline != story arc. All the Elder Scrolls games take place in the same world too, but they definitely don't share one story arc.

In terms of game count, Assassin's Creed has been going for more games than any series I can think of.

I wouldn't really say Metroid 1 had a story, so counting it as part of a "story arc" is kinda specious.

I like the early parts of the game quite a bit, story-wise (gameplay not so much!). Eventually it kinda goes off the rails, but even later on there's stuff I like. Barthandelus is fucking hilarious and I burst out laughing pretty much every time he opened his mouth. And the ending with the Fang + Vanille stuff was great.

7/10 at least it's better than FFX

Robocop Title reminds me of the MMX ending theme, but without MMX nostalgia or instrumentation I like. Cosmic Hero is great and it was sad when it got banned.

Xaaci is not a song I would ever want to listen to on its own. It feels like great in-game BGM tho. Wait, Guile's Theme? What a neat new theme for Guile! I like the part at the one minute mark. Reminds me of Mega Man X in a good way.

Going from What Am I Fighting For to this is a real downgrade. Sunjammer doesn't really have anything going on either. Sounds like some dime a dozen arcade song.

How does the series connect with SMT? I know nothing about SMT except that it's in the post-apocalypse and it somehow also takes place in the same universe as Persona despite the latter not being in the post-apocalypse?

Every SMT game takes place in a different universe (except a couple subseries which share a universe) and the Persona games take place in a separate universe from any of those.

I'm not sure how the original Megami Tensei games relate to any of the Shin Megami Tensei games though.

Also the first Persona game is called Megami Ibunroku: Persona in Japan, which would make it a spinoff of MT, not SMT.

I feel like stuff like PUBG and Terraria are not as interesting answers to the spirit of the question just because both games are still largely 'ongoing' (I guess Terraria had its final update not too long ago, but it is still more or less a 'current' game)

League of Legends has multiple spinoffs. They made that autochess game and they're making a fighting game.

They're making a single player game in the PUBG universe but that's currently a good one.

Stardew Valley is the best I could think of.

I've been a fan of one Bethesda published game (Doom 2016). Other games from them I've played:

Doom Eternal - disappointing followup
Dishonored - felt bad to play, had a bad story
Wolfenstein New Order - felt bad to play, but had a neat story
Oblivion - one of the worst games I've ever played

I'm not exactly broken up about Playstation losing them.

Into Free is pretty fun. I enjoy it. Blue Line is not so good.

VPC isn't good either. Bleh. Dark Messenger rocks at least, though holy fuck is this upload terrible.

Towards the Horizon great song! Glad to see this in the contest. People complaining about wubs are silly. Cut out the second half of Flightless and my opinion on it gets much more positive.

One of the things that gets me about Azure is Lloyd and co. being so against Crossbell independence. Really doesn't feel in character for them to me.

Even more so considering that CSIV Spoilers CS4 ends with Crossbell being independent anyway...

Why does Microsoft even try in Japan at this point? Localization must cost more than the money they're making from that market.

I assume having a Japanese presence makes it more likely for Japanese publishers/developers to put games on the console (where they'll sell better in the West).

LA isn't one of the higher tier Trails songs. Not the worst Trails song we've gotten in, at least. Rush Hour good stuff! I do feel like it could have a little more to it, but I quite enjoy it for what it is.

Murago is solid, though there's a bit too much of something I'm not into? Sounds too Japanese? I dunno. Follia is pretty neat! I feel like normally I'm just okay with this style of Kirby, and here it's great! Nifty!

Conquest is nice. Wouldn't say it stands out to me that much. Still nice. Shop isn't something I like. Oddly has some similar sounds to Liber Ark...

Get out Colress. Burrito pretty fun though goofy.

The start of Bahram kinda reminds me of Ratchet and Clank music before the Nekomata Master songs appear. I like his more Nekomata-y stuff more, but this is solid. Some of it feels more Hamauzu than Nekomata, and although I like both of them, I don't think it's a great combination.

I like I Believe a lot other than the chorus. Kill that stupid chorus. Would rather listen to 867-5309 than Wavetapper...

Last year already had my interest for Hellblade 2, and it's becoming a lot harder to not get my first Xbox

Plague Tale 2 is coming to PS5 and Somerville is a timed exclusive, in case you didn't catch that part. Redfall could be interesting though. Arkane's developing both Deathloop and Redfall right now - I wonder which of the two will be better?

PiB doesn't really do it for me like the other MRD songs. Sim Broadway pretty fun though. Close match.

When I first listened to Danger, I thought it was kind of blah other than that the vocal part which was really cool. Now I'm more into the rest of it, so that's nice. Solid song! Five is boring. I feel like it would work for big hype in context, but I don't care about it on its own.

I remember when AC had cool epic songs with a unique style. This just sucks. Merican Yokai ain't great either, but it doesn't grate as much.

There are 9999 battles in the bonus mode, in case you didn't know.

I think the reason there aren't more games like this is that they take a loooong time to make. 13 Sentinels was originally announced as a Vita exclusive, to give you a clue how long. Was delayed a lot.
