This topic has come up on the Smash board a few times, and it's jarring/surprising to me that a good number--perhaps even the majority in some cases--of votes went to Brawl.

To be fair, SSBB was massive on this site, and generally speaking across the gaming internet at the time, so it isn't particularly surprising that Brawl was an initial point of contact for a lot of people

It just creates a very awkward looking, unappealing space across the entirety of the rest of the header.

Why do you think unpaid volunteer moderators would have anything to do with designing the site? We are doing the same thing you guys are. Giving feedback on what issues we run into, but no moderator has anything to do with actually running or designing the site. Nor should we, as unpaid internet janitors.

I'm not saying you have anything to do with it but as people who were vetted and are clearly invested in the continuation of the site, you'd think they'd at least survey your guys opinions more frequently than the wider userbase

Same reason if you added a diesel engine to a previously gas truck, you can't keep using gas.

The future they want to go with in regards to how topics are created, guides are submitted, etc will be incompatible with the old site.

I just want to make it clear that I was just spitballing a few reasons I could think off the top of my head on why they would change it. I have nothing at all to do with anything (outside of pressing mod buttons and making people angry at me) and nothing I said should be taken as 'why' change in game pages. I know as much as you. =P

One would think they'd include the Lead Moderators in their decision making process and clue you guys in so you can run some level of crowd control and interference

If this was just a visual update, that'd be possible

From the sounds of it, this isn't just changing the existing code. This is an overhaul of the code as they know it.

You guys complained for years about the site being stuck in the late 90s/early 00s and when they, perhaps a bit late, finally got around to dragging the site ever closer to the modern day now y'all mad.

This is like asking for a remake of a really old game and getting mad when the gameplay was modernized to appeal to current day gamers. Though I guess with games you can always go back. At least they're being cognizant of the old timers here and offering a style that at least feels familiar

Depends on the individual game.

While certainly it isn't a big deal nowadays, back in the day the potential differences between even console variants could have definitely mandated a separate board. But it is especially true for the differences between stuff like a handheld version of a game and the console version of a game.

The only similarity between Star Wars Episode 1 Racer on GBC and N64 is that they share the same (or similar) name.

I've been through:
A 7, 14, 30, 90 day purgatory at least once each. So that's 4.

Plus 3 180 day purgatories so that's 7 total.

I've had at least one suspension that didn't result in a purgatory.

So in the 7-11 range. Probably more.

there shouldnt be any personal opinion from mods whether a message should or shouldnt be deleted. Either the site says a message is against the TOS or it isnt. No personal interpretation.

That's why the site allows you to contest a moderation if you feel it doesn't violate the TOS.

Unless you get suspended. Then you're fucked. Especially if you feel a moderated post should've been nothing more than a warning lol. Sometimes mods miss context or recurring board jokes or references and will suspend you over something that, in a vacuum, might sound truly awful but would make sense in context, if being in poor taste

That was the idea when they were making the OT.

Though in the context of a galaxy spanning society of Jedi, I don't think it'd have made sense for them to adhere strictly to such a (more or less) stiff fighting style.

Also you can still explain off the change from PT to OT in-universe by saying that Obi-Wan was older and not nearly as mobile, that Vader was restricted by his mechanical parts, and that Luke was simply untrained.

This isn't new information. We've always known the GOP does not want to work with the Democrats, so you have to ask why is it that the Democrats still insist on bipartisanship? They waste so much time trying to negotiate with the GOP only to capitulate every time.

I have a tiny hope that they're playing the Bipartisan card and then will use the lack of bipartisanship in attacks ads
